Jeff Harding has won the right to show the Hide vs Williams Fight exclusively on the BBC from allegedly's Sport Network

In another Nail in the Coffin for Sky Boxing coverage, Warren is doing everything he can to get his Contract with Sky terminated so he can jump ship to another Channel.

ITV is currently in talks with Warren about working together on big fights again and Warren has always talked about his fondness for the Channel. Due to ITV's loss of premiership football highlights, ITV now has a Cash surplus which they want to go into Live sport and Boxing is at the top of their list. They achieved great results in the late 80's and 90's with fights involving Eubank and Benn that registed as many as 15 million viewers, a feat that premiership football has never been able to achieve!

A added bonus for Warren is that ITV could afford to show the Big International fights that the BBC couldn't afford to put public money into. Obviously bringing boxers like Calzaghe and Hatton is a big attraction for ITV sport exec's who are looking to maxamise commerical opportunities!

In another twist, Channel 4 have been sniffing around boxing and have shown interest in following 1 boxer's carreer from start to finish in a kind of Reality documentary.

As stated before, SKY will be pulling out of boxing almost completly form 2005 and it looks like there are alot of takers for their boxers.

By the start of 2005, we could well find that Boxing is once again dominated by the BBC and ITV! Lets hope so!

This is fight at the last chance saloon.
It's a pantomime.
This fight is interesting just because of the unknown, a bit like "who would win if Spiderman and Batman had a fight".

This is not a make or break fight between 2 hopes. Both fighters are currently up shit creek. The winner get a paddle. that's all.

but I'm just passing on what I've been told!

I'm a big fan of British boxing and believe it would be Big again if ITV get back into Big time Boxing.

I've spent alot of time in England over the years(more than lennox lewis) and feel boxing is on the verge on being big time again!

Walker, Good Idea.

I think what they want to do is randomly pick a boxer at the start of his career and than follow the highs and Lows that they'll face!

I saw somewhere that Channel 4 have been working with Matt Skelton alot on projects (does anyone know which ones?) so maybe it could be Matt that they choose to do the documentary on!

Also, dosen't Channel 4 show some type of Boxing Highlights program already?

Anyway, as soon as I hear anything about the ITV DEAL WITH allegedly to bring Big Time boxing back to them, I'll let you guys know!

Told by WHOM nasty, where are you getting this 'inside' information that Sky are about to abandon boxing?

A friend of mine who works quite high up for Sky knows that I'm a big boxing fan and told me that alot of the Contracts for the Boxing team haven't been renewed!

Its seems Sky have been pissed off that Warren didn't secure the 3 GOLD EN BOYS OF BRITISH BOXING Audley Harrison, David Haye and Carl Froch.

The fact that they were all allowed to sign for the BBC has made Sky question their Contract with Warren.

ITV are in talks with allegedly to bring JOE CALZAGHE, RICKY HATTON and SCOTT HARRISON to LIVE ITV BOXING!

Also, allegedly is also asking for more money of Sky without Success and he wants OUT!


I'm sure someone from SKY will comfirm my story!

Well if Sky are on the verge of pulling out you wouldn't know it from their current boxing output.

Personally I don't care who shows the fights anyway, so long as I get to see them.

Perhaps this is a daft question, but if Sky pull out, how would "Pay-Per-View" fights in the UK work then?

PPV is highly lucrative (ask Don King!), and I can't see promoters of BIG fights looking to miss out...but it's can't (to my knowledge) to implemented on terrestrial TV.

Don't Worry.

I'm sure someone like Setanta will pick them up!

Or they'll just be shown here for free but with a one-off payment covering possible lost earnings!

Remember, ITV got 10-12 million viewers for their Saturday Night LIVE Boxing shows!

Premiership football highlights is lucky to get 5 million Viewers on the same 10.30pm Saturday night Slot!

Boxing is perfect for ITV to generate Advertising and Sponsorship.

Just think of a RICKY HATTON fight on ITV! It'd pull in 10 million people no problem!

ITV have about £80,000,000 million surplus and they want to fill the 10.30 saturday night slot with Sport and Boxing has already proved a ratings winner for them in the past. Plus ITV made allegedly so he's always had a Soft spot for them!

I think nasty could well turn out to be some sort of Boxing politics idiot savant.

His posts are (to be fair) mostly very badly received, but it could turn out that he is an extremely 'gifted' individual with regards to his knowledge on British boxing politics.

ITV will not put Boxing back on unless they are BIG fights and even then they might not.

They can get 8 Million viewers for a re-run of A Touch of Frost, so why do they need all the hassle of arranging boxing.

Remember two of the most remembered tragedies in recent Boxing happened on ITV Watson and McClellan.

ITV Sport are still wary of Boxing because of this.

Unfortunately ITV would rather show crap TV shows like "When good pets turn bad" than a decent boxing match.

I'm sure most people would love ITV to show the fights but as was said already, all they will show are the BIG FIGHTS and not much else, so SKY will be probably keep the boxing going for a while yet.

AS for Williams v Hide, its only interesting because its a bit of a grudge match. Neither are going anywhere. Williams doesn't show any desire and Hide is ok until he opens his mouth.

I hope the BBC don't think of this as world class boxing.

herbie hide keeps banging on about being a 2 time wbo champion but that was 5 yrs ago, and he was blown out in 2 rds by vitali klitschko. who looks like the man now that lewis is gone, so that just shows how far adrift he is of the top level.

if herbie wants another title shot he's going to have to earn it and start fighting again and stop banging on about former glories.
