I have read some of the posts on the subject of PEDs and steroid use in boxing. There are some very clear cut opinions that are voiced. The boxer who failed a screen and admitted using banned drugs has started another debate about the use and morality of PEDs in boxing.

What do people think about; and feel about; the supplements that are within the rules, Some boxers advertise supplement manufacturers on their shorts and in magazines. Is the use of such supplements also some sort of unfair advantage?

Why are some supplements legal and others not? Is it down to potency of effect or the danger of using?

i was looking at a boxer the other week, welterweight and thought he looked very swollen. at the end of the fight he put on his t-shirt and i noticed he was sponsered by an online supplement store that sells pro-hormone, pro-steroids, designer ped's and it got me thinking back then was he being given supp's that could be a bit borderline.

I imagined that with some of the definate and heated views toward steroid use etc that posters would have had views on supplements/manufacturers etc. Some of the supplements that a boxer is free to use without sanction will be very close in effect and molecular structure to PEDs that are banned.

Is this not an issue in boxing?

Don't some of the supplement firms sponser individual boxers or gyms? Surely that has the potential to give one boxer an advantage over another?

I dont think there is anything wrong with legal supplements.

It depends who says what is legal in the sport and how different a legal drug (supplement)is from an illegal one. Some of the drugs OK to take have very similar qualities and effects as illegal ones.

Instead of a banned list they should make an allowed list.

Maybe they should kingfinn; there are chemists and pharmacists that tweak the molecular arrangement of an illegal recreational drug in order to get around the issue of illegality; the now leagl drug has very similar effects to the old and illegal drug; maybe 'they' do the same with PEDs?

i think thats what the pro-hormones are, they just swap and change hydrogen or carbon atoms then one drug becomes a different drug tha dosent exist on the banned list because it didnt exist. well i think thats how it works anyway.

Let them all take what they like, its the only way you will know the playing field is fair and square. I want to see fighters reach new levels of Sporting Excellence!

getting any advantage legal or not is wrong but people are two faced fuckers and hav no problem with things that make you better aslong as its "legal"!! if your going to cry about make boxing clean, then eat clean and train hard should be all they allow.coz untill thats all your allowed to do it will never be fair!!
