Drostanolone is one of the steroids that is used for bodybuilding and one can remember just how much larger Tarver was compared to Danny, when they were in the ring together.
The drug cheats are slowly being found out in all sports, now that the good chemists are getting up to speed and samples are frozen for later testing.

English heavyweight Larry Olunamiwo (or something!) recently got suspended for four years for a similar offence.

Tarver is claiming his innocence like all
good drug cheats do. This has to cast some doubts over how long he's been on the stuff. Users rarely get caught the first time. Under the circumstances Green probably has every right to be saying something.

I don't see how steroids can help a boxer in the hat of battle :?? If anything, isn't Tarver guilty of simply bulking up?

Steriods arnt all for bulking up. There are dozens of diffrent types and alldo diffrent things. Most give you the ability to train harder, Which will help you leading up to a fight.

Fair enough, steroids are not something I know much about

sweet p is right.
the general idea for endurance athletes to use "the juice" is to gain the ability to recover much, much faster from hard training.
at that level these guys are pushing the limitis of physical exhaustion day in and day out. if they can get an edge on recovery it means they can train 100% level sooner than without it. this makes a huge difference over say a 12-14 week camp, in not only size, but endurance, and also punch power.
when your looking at 90kg athletes a small difference in these attributes can make a huge difference. i dont know the exact figures, but lets say a fighter gets hit 30 times per round over 9 rounds. thats 270 shots total. if the juiced up athlete hits 5% harder per shot, how much difference do you think would accumulate over said 270 punches?
a lot. thats how it helps a fighter

Did the commission down there even bother testing Tarver?
He got busted by a standard urine test not one of the stricter testing methods that have been happening recently. It was not a random test, Tarver knew the exact day it was coming and still got caught.
What kind of drug testing do they do in Australia for boxing?

D J Pawsey may be the best man to ask on this board. He has boxed recently.

Good question that.

I can only speak for the West Aus commission. They do urine tests for World and Regional titles. I'm pretty sure they would have in NSW also.

Thanks.
Urine test was all the CSAC needed to catch him.
If they gave a similar test down there and didn't catch him it's likely he wasn't on anything extra for that fight.
He just proved he's not good enough at cheating to get past a standard urine test even when he knows the exact day it's coming.

Have a look at the Tarver that fought Green, he hadn't looked that good and in shape in years. The guy was juicing, no question!

Ahhh the always clever "look at him he must be cheating" statement.
So why didn't he test positive for the Green fight then genius.
If we're going to go with these "look at him, he must be juicing" statements then Green was clearly using something.
A man in his late 30's has a life-threatening operation that permanently removed body mass from him............over 20 lbs if I remember correctly.................................. then not only makes a speedy recovery but shows up with a chiseled physique and at the highest weight of his career.
Yeah, that's totally natural
Tarver was a flabby 221 for his previous fight in the heavyweight division, of course he is going to look better after getting rid of 20+ lbs of fat. His fight before that...............two years before Green..........was at 175 where it was well-known that he was a drainer.
Face it.
On the chance they didn't test him down there it was not an accident and it was not to help Tarver.
If they did test him, he was clean..................or at least not on a substance that is banned in Australia which would still make him clean.

Not sure how many Danny Green fights you have seen, but he definately didnt looked chiseled for either his fight against Tarver or Wldarczyk. He looked to be carrying a lot of weight. Originally people would have said Tarver had worked bloody hard to get his body into the shape it was against Green. But now, based on new evidence (Tarvers positive test to a banned substance) of course people are going to speculate whether or not he had used PEDs before. Dont be so niaive to think this is Tarvers first time....Green clearly usinhg something !! When he tests positive there may actually be some substance to your statement, but I doubt that day will ever come.

Tarver tested positive - fact.
Green has never tested positive - fact.
Anything outside of that is pure guesswork.

Roy Jones Jnr has just beaten an undefeated Polak in Poland, maybe Roy isn't that washed up after all, or just maybe it's simply an indication that like Hopkins and I take Juice Tarver, they keep highlighting how great thier era was.
Tarver juiced for Green, i have no doubt, no evidence, but simply no doubt.
Fact; Green has never been caught, so it's apt to start speculating whether Tarver( Caught red handed )did or didn't while here, i look at the Tarver that fought Green compared to the Tarver that fought Kayode, and i laugh in confidence that it's a no brainer that he juiced and trained his arse of.

Roy is completely washed up; he won 3 rounds at most was dropped by an opponent with 4 stoppages in 18 bouts.
The decision was terrible but not surprising in hindsight; there was a pre-fight agreement for Jones to face Wlodarcyzk that relied on the former winning today.
