to me getting an advantage in a fair or unfair way shouldnt be excepted but some of the rubbish iv read on here from people who realy seem to know nothing and just like to make a noise seem to ignore this. so if youv got the money and can buy all the "legal" suppliments which do help your training in every way etc thats ok to do wether ur opponent can afford the same things or not?? so boxer A) takes all the suppliments that make him faster and stronger and fitter etc yet boxer B) just cnt afford them so cnt compete on a level playing field and juat trains use have no problem with that?? because its "legal"? what about all the boxers who took stuff and won ther fights but now they have put things they took on the banned list as they give you an unfair advantage, does that take away from what they did as its now proven wot they did was "cheating" they just didnt know back then?? eat clean, live clean and train hard and take nothing is the only way sport will ever be fair!!! and ps no1 has a problem with sum future superstar getting the best training camp he can then ringing sum1 up at 24 hour notice after a night shift to fight him...........thats "fair" is it??

How can Larry have an advantage if he lost to fighters who obviously didn't take steroids? He was a domestic battler who when stepped up another nano-level - was exposed. No-one is telling me Daniel Peret is on gear - but lost to him convincingly!
There is boxing and there is the heavyweights, I can understand why if you are 6ft odd and weigh in at 15 stone and are a heavyweight who cannot get down to cruiserweight that you will take steroids - otherwise you are going to get blown away if you step up. And say the BBB of C implement tests and other countries do not. What is the point? Do you think it will stop fighters who want to compete at that higher level?
As for 'fairness' well life is not fair, there will always be people - for whatever reason - who will get more girls, get better jobs, make more money, can beat the shit out of you etc etc. I think what is more 'unfair' is these 60-54 fights that are polluting British boxing, it doesn't seem to happen in any other country. The one sided fights that are being made week after week are damaging British boxing and a cross section of boxers more than a domestic heavyweight taking gear.

Name a country that it doesnt happen in , thats boxing , its promotors protecting their investment or trying to squeeze those last few ticket sales out .

journeymen called with 24 hours notice get well paid for what they do, that is why they choose that route!!... if they are going to save a show at short notice then the promoter has to dig deep in his pocket for a couple of grand.

kells your way off the mark imo, im the manager of a part time football team we train tuesday thursdays and play on saturdays if we play against a team who is full time i dont class them as cheating because they get better training than us, thats just the way it goes, and if a journeyman isnt happy with the notice he gets for a fight or the training camp he recieves then its simple dont take the fight, you have the choice, if im fighting somebody who is juiced up and i dont know about it and more importantly its against the rules how is that fair in any way shape of form? im not having a pop at larry but what he did was wrong, lets not try and justify it

I could name you quite a few actually, Australia, Argentina, Japan, Mexico. Not saying there are fighters without losing records but fighters are well matched in the main. You don't see anyone in those countries with a 2-144 rcord who keeps getting fights.
And there is plenty wrong with these 60-54 fights - it's killing boxing!

I agree FG.
I've had a quick look at Karl Taylor - after fighting Hatton he was 2-100+ over more than a decade.
Now - I didn't see many of those fights, in fact hardly any, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that he's either not being competitive or is being stuck in with the wrong kind of fighter.
I also agree with Curtis, it's one thing accepting a disadvantage in return for work and a chance to cause an upset (or just get ripped off!) and entirely another when your opponent is cheating by using drugs.
I just hope it doesn't take a boxer being badly damaged by a drug cheat for something to actually be done. The facilities are in place to catch people, and also educate too. Let's use them!!

No not all boxers choose that route they have to take it coz cnt do tickets or cnt get fights so it isn't always a choice!! Not every1 is looked after alot of boxers are not and I'm sorry it isn't fair!! Boxin is about money not talent!! And u play in a league with ur level so it's fair u wudnt be chucked in wiv united every week!! And sorry Curtis thers no way u wud of faced unbeaten superstars every week wen u started and that ain't a dig its just pointing out some get a better chance in boxing than others

Kells I agree to a extent with what your saying, some of the match making is a joke and some fighters get looked after and some get thrown to the lions but that's the sport we are in , is it righ no but its not blatent cheating, what larry has done is, that's my point

I took Nasser Al Harbi to Italy to fight world no 7 Emanuele Della Rosa for the WBC International Title last saturday, Della Rosa being the champion and fighting in his home town under his own and biggest promoter in Italy, we had around three and a half weeks notice, I wonder how much Della Rosa had ? after the weigh-in we had to aq attend rules meetings and fill in various forms ect, Nasser had to be present we was told, meanwhile Della rosa was not to be seen, instead, no doubt eating and drinking somewhere, I managed to get a sandwich and some water to nasser after a while after complaining, on the day of the fight we was put in a smalll cubicle on the beach, with not enough room to swing a cat and like an oven inside, Della Rosa was off the beach inside the main builder with loads of space, in the shade, we had nowhere to shadow box or do our padwork, because we was surrounded by sand, the officials also made an arrangement to watch me wrap Nasser's hands at 8pm ( we was due in the ring at 9pm ) but after complaining and looking for them, they arrived at about 8.30 pm, at about 9pm we was called out for our ring walk and they kept Nasser standing for some time in the smoke for the ring walk until his ring walk tune had been played twice , with a delay in between, then when we got in the ring after a great start by Nasser, in which he boxed brilliantly and as Boxing News said Nasser outclased Della Rosa, the open scoring cards had Nasser behind after 4 and 6 rounds, causing Nasser to switch tactics and trade more, during the fight Della Rosa was frustrated at been hit so often, that he started charging in with his head, causing a cut near to Nasser's eye and he a folowed through with the elbow several times causing facial damage, the referee did not take any any points away, in the end we lost a close decision, though everyone who watched it on live streaming felt Nasser had won convencingly, so many disadvantages against us, if this fight was anywhere else we would have won, we thought that when we took the fight that if Nasser dominated from the centre off the jab we could still win even away from home, how wrong can you be, the judges excuse was that when you are in someone elses back yard ,you have to win very big. What happened to the ten point must system, where you score from punches landed, Nasser much have 4 or 5 to evey one of Della rosa's.

yer i to see ur point curtis and u are right, im just making the point that people dont realy hav a problem with things being unfair aslong as its legal but ther up in arms over cheats and to me, have a level playing field for every1 not just for the chosen few..........like i say only way boxing or any sport will be fair is if all u can do is eat well, train hard and have people compete against the same level as them selfs

I agree with some points Kells as i have lads who box away.
But have you thought that the home guy might not think its fair that he has to sell all the tickets for both wages as well as training and making weight?
He might think its unfair that hes got the responsiblity of the fight going ahead and raising a couple of grand to support both wages wile the away guy can swan in and just box get his wages and go home?
He also might find it unfair that the guy whos away has got no pressure from family friends or media to perform wile he has constant attention and unwanted pressure.
I think the whole fair thing is swings and roundabouts iv had lads who have boxed at home and tore there hair out trying to sell enough tickets for the fight to work and get on the next show and those same lads have eventualy boxed away and thought it was great to be able to just fight not worry about tickets or there mats in the crowd.
I admit some home trainers try to get too many advantages and as a matchmaker i try to even things out with an experiance or weight advantage for the away guy. But and its big but TAKING drugs that will make you bigger and stronger and faster that are banned by doctors(obviously for a reason) in a sport where you hit someone in the head.
For me that goes a little bit further than longer trainig camps and short notice fights.
On another note wile its unfair that these guys get the hometown advantages (weight, more notice, hometown decisions)
Do you not think wile these lads were living like monks at 16 17 18 19 and 20 to become top amatuers and training every day while there fellow amatuer boxers were out partying and meeting girls and enjoying a drink that that was a bit unfair on them they missed out on a lot to become better fighters and in a great position.
So really fair is a strange word to use in most sports.

im open to all arguments for and against but we cud find things to pick each others points apart for and against all night but you def do bring up gud points.....i do agree wen people moan about footballers wages for example that the guys hav gave up so much to get to the top and that it isnt just given to them so that point u made is very true. i do stick by my point tho that i dont care if sumthing is legal or illigal if it improves u by making u faster or stronger of fitter etc its cheating!!
