What happened to him? Was really looking forward to his match with Brook a couple of years ago, hopeful there would be a re-match after the cut stopped the first fight but looking at his record he hasn't been seen since?

Moved to Gallaghers and is back out in the new season apparently.

Thats good news, was a fan of his. Adds to an already interesting domestic scene at welterweight (assuming he's still at the same weight) Shame he's chose to go with Gallaghers tho, not a fan of that stable.

I think it is a good move for Jennings, he is skillful, fast and a good mover, not the biggest puncher or the strongest, Gallaghers are renowned for making fighters stronger and more powerful i.e Crolla, but not renowned for producing boxers, so will gel, All Jennings needs is work in the strength and power dept.

Bumped into him at the Quigg/Munroe card the other week, looked in great shape.

Nothing against Gallaghers as a trainer, just personally don't like the likes of the Smiths and Crolla (I make an exception for Quigg so I'll do the same for Jennings)

I took Nasser to spar with him 2 years ago a couple of times before his fight with Kel brook and he is a real pro, great jab, good boxing brain, he told me the secret to his longevity is that he is a real good runner, which he does everyday in the hills, that keeps him in good shape all the time, always around the weight, he is a good sportsman as well, he had some real problems with Nas, but had nothing but compliments and advice to give, at the time he said Nasser was good enough for a british tiitle, that gave Nas a lot of confidence. When Jennings fought Kel Brook he was doing really good until he got caught with a few shots in the corner and a cut opened up, to stop the contest..

Favourite boxer Jennings.

Could watch him allday, quality movement.

Saw him not long back and he'd had a shoulder injury but judging from his twitter posts he's back in training

i would have loved to have seen Jennings box Matty Hatton out of his socks

Michael's firm always runs the security at Hatton shows.
He was on duty at the Quigg Munroe bill, including the weigh in.
He is in great shape but he said he still needs an op on his shoulder before returning.
I remember his fight fondly against Jimmy Vincent on the night of Khan's debut at Bolton.
We all thought he would win but never expected him to blow Vincent away inside the first.
He's 35 later this year and has been out of the ring for coming up to 2 years so it won't be easy, but I do wish him all the best.

This thread is about Michael Jennings - have you ever made a post to any thread without mentioning your son and stating how good you think that he is ?

Anyway, back to the topic ................. Jennings seems a sound lad and had a good career, however at his age / his inactivity / his injury etc. etc. I cannot see him achieving more than he has already.

Mick had a few problems with his hands and knuckles that were ongoing way before the Brook fight (think he had to pull once due to it). I remember him showing me directly after the Lazslo fight and his knucles were swollen to over double the size they should be. As someone else stated he has since been recovering from a shoulder injury.

As well as his security firm he has been training novices in the gym for various unliscensed shows, most of which he promotes/organises - a few have been at Park Hall, my brother fought on one. The plan was to maybe try and hold a prizefighter sort of event later this year - but Im not sure how viable it all is/was. He also still practices with with The band The Shoks though dont think they have been gigging recently.

Again alluding to a previous post about fitness. This will never be an issue for Mick. As stated by Macho he has been running since he was about 10 religiously, never been something he minded as he was decent at it at primary school. But like you say his amateur trainer (Reese 'something') encouraged. After a couple of years he was breaking records at school at cross country and representing/winning at district level. It is something he has never stopped.

Hes pretty level headed and is itching to get back in the ring but will know if its not there. I think his aim is to try and get a British title shot and take it from there. He still has decent support due to his down to earth personality. Anyone remember him bringing the belt on the train for the journey home, think it was after the Pryce fight.

He's one of my favourite boxers to watch and Michael Jennings really seems to have a pleasant personality. I hope he gats a good run at it.
(Have to say that when he knocked Jimmy Vincent out; Jimmy should not have been fighting; Michael would have won v a prime Vincent but no way should Jimmy have been in the ring).

I met him once briefly (at Khan V McCloskey fight) and he was an absolute gent. He was happy to stand for a few minutes and have a quick chat about boxing. Seemed like a nice genuine guy.

A rematch with Pryce would be worth watching as well. For all but 2 of the rounds he was excellent in that fight

Am i right in thinking its his fathers company, they were doing a blackburn newcastle game i went to a few years back too. Big firm in manc and surrounding area.

Anyman who got in the ring with cotto can hold his head up high in British boxing IMO
