I was pretty outraged when I found out the board were originally intending to charge you 50 quid for the privilege of attending, but when they made it free I suddenly thought this would be a worth while meeting that could raise some interesting points :)

I didn't bother replying to the invite due to personal commitments. I'm sure it will be a worthwhile seminar though.

Coventry just didn't seem appealing to me

I Learnt that dope testers arent bothered if you take cannabis if your not contracted to fight.180 dope tests were performed last year and 30 of those were on non title level fighters and 4 tested positive. A certain A star ref has a very peculiar way of scoring a round and Kerry has a special relationship with a senior board officials wife (you had to be there for that one) :)


All in all a good day, nice to see some familiar faces again.

Was a very good seminar today, the talk on drug testing was great, very informative, also Kerry Kayes did a good job on , a real passionate speaker, the two referees explaining the scoring of contests from a referee's point of view, Victor Loughlin was very honest about hometown scoring and admitted that some refs do give the benefit of the doubt to the home fighter, which he felt was wrong, it was also interesting how ref's use different methods to score contests, whilst still working by the 10 point must system, though Robert Smith is still far too protective and in denial at times, he jumps to their defense at the slightest hint of complaint, but fair play to all the ref's they where very transparent. I met a couple of guys from this forum but they would not reveal their aliases on boxrec, shame that, as it is always nice to put a face to a poster, they know who I am, I believe they where BBB of C officials, central area. Where was you insider ? where were you sat ? Should have said hello. No need to be shy.

I did mate, I came straight up to you and I sat in front of you and Nas, I don't hide mate, its just no one ever asks :) I worked for the board for a decade before taking a licence out in my own right. I was on the council that gave you and Nas your respective licences.

Useful "free" seminar for anyone interested in sport.
An invaluable information gathering exercise for anyone actively involved in boxing.

Was a good day, I thought all the speakers did a great job and there were some good debates and banter.
