To keep his EU title, Richard Towers will have to fight Francesco Pianeta. The EU title is considered a stepping stone to the European heavyweight title (the EBU-EU).

Francesco has been working as a sparring partner for Wladimir Klitschko.

I don't give Towers much of a chance against Pianeta.
I hope he gives it a go though and doesn't vacate.

Seems a backward step for Pianeta, as I remember him beating Scott Gammer for this belt a few years back.
About time Pianeta went for the proper European belt.
He'll beat Towers but that won't be proving anything.

Francesco Pianeta had cancer, he's been trying to rebuild his career.

I remember Sosnowski beating...sorry "drawing" with Pianeta a few years back...unless he's improved a lot since then he's going to struggle to go too much further than Euro level fights.

European level is basically world level at the moment.

That's why I use the term EBU level rather than Euro level.
Pianeta seems to be a decent EBU level fighter, and I expect him to beat Towers.

I remember that fight and I thought the decision was a good one. Pianeta did show his limitations that night. He has some decent names on his resume though.

Yes, I thought the draw was fair as well.

No way Towers will win with his poor technique, glass chin and poor stamina.
Pianeta will win wide ud,outworking him in second half of the fight.
