I really wonder who comes off worse...but then again if Smith looks worse than Warren then British boxing really does have to worry...

Newsnight covering more sport. What is the world coming to. First they had Joey Barton of all people being questioned by Paxman a while ago about the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the new England manager back in May.

You can say what you like about allegedly (until you get slapped with a writ) but he is one shrewd and clever man who knows how to bend the regulations of the Board of Control to achieve his objectives. I do feel that Robert Smith the man charged with running the governing body of the sport we love did seem rather toothless, I would have rather seen Paxman being let loose on the pair of them.

I would have liked Smith to make just one interesting, convincing point.

With Jeremy Paxman presiding it adding a bit more spice to the debate would have made it a much mroe interesting and lively discussion. I don't think Emily Matliss handled it well, she needed to haev done a little bit more homework to have really tried and get messers Smith and Warren going.Let's hope both men get an opportunity to duke it out where they have more time to really go for it and produce great telly.

Does nobody on here think that perhaps the BBB of C should occasionally be represented publicly by the Chairman instead of the General Secretary .
On such an important issue as the future of boxing in this country , and the very nature of the organisation being under threat ,I would have thought it was time for the apparent leader to appear . And if he chooses not to ,we have to ask ourselves why .
For example when the RBS had the computer problem last week , their top man went public to apologise and reassure ,and even gave up his bonus . It's all very well travelling round the world every week , but in times of crisis ( and this is a crisis) ,you have to stand up and be counted .

Given a 5 minute slot at the end of the show telling us things we knew weeks ago, with the same old generic questions and answers in abundance. Not worth watching IMO.
