i cant beleive people are picking Holmes. Holmes was floored by butterbean at the end of that fight you do know?? the fight with butterbean was horrible. Larry looked about 95 an dbutterbean was too afraid to throw a punch. I think this Toney altho shot to pieces, still has enough defensive slicks and a counter right to pummel holmes to defeat. If butterbean could floor holmes with seemingly the only punch of the fight he could muster the courage to throw than Toneys counters could do it. It would be interesting tho!

Yeah...ok...good point

A washed up Toney can beat a washed up, and hung out to dry Larry Holmes.

Holmes missed a punch and fell down, Butterbean didn't land a thing.

Larry would win this handily

Maybe, but I'd take the Toney that beat Evander...but that was before the rinse cycle I guess.

Past is the past. No?
How do we know he ain't still using? Besides, I will always root for a guy that ain't cheated over a guy that has in the past. PEDs have no place in our sport and should carry a life ban.

Toney moved like a toddler in the last fight I saw of him. This, and Holmes was a MUCH bigger and better heavy to begin with. I see Holmes taking a decision here, with his height and range. Toney may have a few moments on the counter, but Holmes can back him up all night with the jab.

Holmes was floored by butterbean and it was pathetic to see an athlete who moved so gracefully felled by a wild swing which only cuffed him but put him off balance.

On the flip side, you had to admire Holmes cojones to come out of retirement in his 50s and beat this accomplished barroom brawler who had knocked out over 50 men and make him so timid and afraid the whole fight that he barely threw a punch.

Holmes is a remarkable figure.
Oh and Urineie do go and watch the fight sober next time, put away the castlemaine 4x and you'll see the knockdown. Or maybe Sadie was blowing you off in the dunnie :OhYes: either way do watch the fight again :TU:

Holmes for me.

I'd prefer if Toney rematched Holyfield instead. A chance for Evander to avenge another defeat.

..Ok but only if you are there to gopher sandwiches, donuts, drinks etc, when the occasion arose. (Each of us being assigned to our demonstrated talents, skills, potential etc..... yadda yadda yadda.....)

Not a bad idea, though I prefer Letterman...not for his politics, but for the fact that he is not oatmeal in personality. I worked (shared a stage) in the 80's with Leno in the Poconos. He was a bit of a brat to boot.

Butterbean didn't lay a glove on Holmes for Mugabi's imaginary knock down. That was the best moment of the fight, hilarious. I wouldn't rule out Larry beating Toney right now.

You're not good enough to write for Letterman.

I have to chime in here.....I agree it appeared to be just a clumsy off balance moment for Larry and injured only his pride. But it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. Marciano must have been smilin'.
