With both the Boxing News and the Boxing Monthly choosing to support the Haye v Chisora fight by featuring them on their front pages ,and providing extensive coverage of the build up , we now have to acknowledge that if you have enough power ,money and influence then the rules don't apply to you .
Given that one of the boxers has been suspended ,and the other would have been suspended if he had a licence , and both brought the sport into disrepute in a public brawl which had most of Europe looking on in astonishment I can think of very few offences more worthy of a ban , other than drug missuse . Therefore other than failing a drug test , ANY sanctions imposed for a misdemeanour , on someone connected to Chisora's manager , can be ignored , with the full support of the Boxing News and the Boxing Monthly .
So in effect , we don't need a governing body at all . We can go back to the 19th century , and anyone , who is good enough , can fight , ex - fighters can referee ,with the last man standing taking the purse .

I would single out the Boxing News for the biggest criticism . By featuring the fight this way , they are giving it their endorsement . They could easily had Khan and Garcia on the front page , but no , they have the big LONDON fight . Danny Flexen has apparently been shunned because he criticised the fight and Bob Mee has came out publicly and condemned it , yet still its fully supported ,as just another big promotion . I'll still buy it , as I've always done , but its lost a lot of respect in my eyes .

I was going to construct a well thought out counter, referencing various media sources and statement from sanctioning bodies but what i came up with is

Could not agree more. The BBB of C don't own British boxing. The fight is going ahead, lets just enjoy it a fight fans.

The trade papers are just covering the fight that most people are interested in or talking about. The zillion Haye v Chisora threads that have popped over the weeks are testament to that.

Too true, a British fighter fighting for a world title taking second place to a budding white collar event, only you can't class the brawlers has white collar, maybe they should have made it bare nuckle, that would have sold more tickets, or even better get David Beckham as the referee and the football wags as the judges.

I think Khan would be centre stage in this country, if he were fighting in this country. Lots of casuals like watching him, but most dont like doing the night shift, as it were.

At the end of the day aswell BN and BM are a business - they need to sell copies of their magazines.

And if they feel Haye and Chisora on the front will sell more copies than Khan/Garcia then thats down to them.

I understand BN is seen as the trade paper, but they dont have any moral obligation to the good of boxing/the board. They're there to report on boxing not anything else.

Think they have a hard time of it tbh - they need casual fans to buy their magazines to keep them afloat so sometimes have to cater to the mainstream, but then they get shite from the hardcore fans.

In my opinion both magazines have handled the difficult situation (Haye Chisora) pretty well.

After this can either fighter get a license? Anyway Haye is going to win, and win convincingly.

The mags have gone with the fight that has the most interest and sells the most sells the most copies and that is hands down Haye/Chisora. I've been surprised by the people who have started talking about the fight this week at work.
Khan v Garcia is a good solid scrap but the Peterson rematch would have done better press than Garcia if it had gone ahead

Exactly mate. I dont agree with it personally but you have to look at their point of view. Most magazines struggle bigtime in this day and age.

On a sidenote hows Nasser doing mate? Any chance of picking up a DVD copy of the fight?

Like I said a disgrace, a truly legitimate WORLD TITLE fight against LEGITIMATE fighters take second place against a circus act that is out to rob as much hard earned as possible.

It's a 'disgrace' is it? Seems a bit strong.

• Heavyweights = generally more popular to casual fans than light-welter (hatton being the exception)
• It's taking place in this country.
• It's not on at stupid o' clock for people in this country.
• It's a more evenly matched on paper (I'm sure the odds would confirm this).
• Controversy, especially in the form of a brawl - gets people talking/interested.

Just watch the fight you want to watch....

or better still, watch both and enjoy both. Boxing isn't going to die a death on July 14th.

you say that regardless of what chis/haye have done, these publications still cover the fight. and you are disgusted

yet regardless of what these publication cover, you still pay them for it?

i partially agree with a lot of what you say, but if you are so outraged. don't buy the mags or you are every bit as bad

Its not for Boxing News to make the rules is it? All they need to do is report on boxing news funnily enough. Same as if I saw the John Terry case plastered all over a football news magazing or website. They wouldn't be endorsing it, they would be reporting on news/events relevant to their readership! Dear me.

Boxing news is bit spineless never condemn anything.

Are Boxing News sure that FW will allow them in? He banned them from his shows a few years ago because Claude Abrahms (the then editor) criticised a few aspects of FW promotions.
But of course, he couldnt ban them from this one. He isnt the promoter. allegedly are. Short memories.
