BoxRec

There is currently a lot of discussion as to whether boxrec should list the Haye vs. Chisora fight, ranging from boxrec needs to get of their high horse, to if this fight was listed by boxrec then that would mean corrupt Africa commissions would have to be trusted as well, meaning gym fights or even made up fights could well be listed as well.

Well let’s see what democracy thinks!

That was a big fight and a big, well run event, advertised well in advance and it seems to have been popular. It broke no laws, (or the principals would be in chains as we speak?). Did it happen? Will it be in the record books? (Will it be in the BBBoC yearbook?). The bout ought to be listed IMO though I'm not the most thoughtful and subtle of thinkers.

WTF are you talking about? I merely pointed out that record keeping wasn't as straightforward as some people might think and cited these as examples, specifically saying this had nothing to do with last night. There was no cause and effect suggested between the two.

How come BoxRec haven't updated the fighters who took part in this show yet?

BBBoC has its own website, so if they want to pretend Haye-Chisora didn't happen they should do it there.

I understand that some editor(s) may have some relationship with BBBoC, but IMHO there are some limits, and I just wonder what they would do if next time BBBoC orders them to say that 2+2 is 5 on boxrec and ban everyone who says otherwise.

The bottomline is that the fight did happen. Pretending it didn't is like closing your eyes and saying that since everything you saw dissapeared it no longer exist (BTW, wasn't the philosopher who invented this idea British?... oh, I am sorry, he was Irish, but I guess he would be definitely hired by BBBoC nowadays).

'Next time'? The BBBoC hasn't ordered BoxRec to do anything this time! How could they?

The reason is because Boxrec only list shows on the Boxrec 'schedule' which are sanctioned by the national governing body (i.e. the country where the fight is taking place).

We do list the 'results' of other shows (including unsanctioned shows), but they do not appear on our schedule. Therefore the result of Haye v Chisora should appear on Boxrec but it will not appear on our schedule.

We have always had this rule in place.

The fight was held in EU and was sanctioned by a board also coming from there. For me it should be good enough

Yes. BoxRec is meant to be an impartial observer. The fight did happen, and Haye won.

I thought it might shed some light on your post. If you don't think so, then just forget it.

Unless they take the same position on Klitschko fights in Germany under the Austrian commission then this decision makes no sense I voted yes, it was sanctioned, it even had some (slightly crap) belts from sanctioning bodies who are recognised to be won, there was a ref, there were three internationally respected judges and doctors at ring side, I don't go to unlicensed boxing on principle but this one was legit.

I have seen far more dogey bouts sanctioned - see all the unhealthy fighter licensed to fight on native american reservations.
