I am totally gutted to hear MMA is coming soon to allegedly by way of Ultimate Warrior Challenge.

I don't like MMA, don't watch MMA and certainly don't want it creeping onto my dedicated boxing channel I pay £10.00 per month for.

Imagine a channel launched dedicated to football then suddenly started to show rugby too.

I want my subscription fee to be re-invested in boxing, and securing more boxing broadcast rights, not this cheap ass UFC rip-off.

I agree but they probably bought the rights for 2 bob so provides cheap transmission time.

To be fair - FW said from the word go that MMA would feature on allegedly.

However, he also assured us 2 live shows a week.... that definately didn't hold true.

I pretty much agree with you. Not a fan of MMA at all but unfortunately when the channel launched they did say that they would be showing it. I was hoping they'd forgotten.

I was hoping they had forgotten too. The thought that my subscription money is in someway subsidising / funding MMA, reported to be boxings cancer, makes me f'ing angry.

From the allegedly website:

I thought the whole point of the channel was to bring 'Boxing' not MMA that I really have no interest in watching.

Surprised this only just made news here.

I smell desperation - if you're gonna broaden your appeal as a platform, there are at least 2 more promotions that are better than UC.

Allegedly channel is by far the best £10 I spend each month. That`s the same price as 1 pint of Guinness over here.

I don`t see what the fuss is about. I`m far more pissed with Premier Sports. I still pay for that wanky channel and the amount of boxing they show is utter pants. They used to have some half decent stuff on there, but now it`s next to nothing. I will be cancelling it.

I buy all channels with boxing on and have a separate dish for German channels which can come in handy. Between Sky, allegedly, ESPN and the German/European channels, I get more than enough boxing.

I have to say that Allegedly channel has had some cracking fights on and you get the whole card, which is something Sky will never do.

If MMA brings in enough new subscriptions to cover the costs of the MMA shows, it's a good thing. The channel will be more secure and will be able to provide as much, or more boxing than before.

Will MMA fans be suckered in? - maybe this is not entirely the point...

...there's a fair bit of MMA available on free to air TV channels, and it could be difficult to bring in subscribers. A lot of casual fans will have signed up for Haye Chisora. Maybe the aim is to stop them from cancelling/ prolong the time before they do cancel (rather than encourage new subscriptions for MMA).

Padding the channel out a bit more makes the channel seem like it's better value for money... whether many people will watch the MMA (or whatever else may be added), isn't that important. Non-cancellations is what they want. If subscribers see allegedly as a channel which provides options, then they are much less likely to cancel. The lions share of money spent will still be on boxing, and if the MMA added value thing works out there'll be more money available too.

As a keen MMA fan along with the boxing, and also already a subscriber of allegedly I don't think personally this deal with UWC will up the ratings that much.

UWC are more aimed at putting on good domestic level fights rather than the International ones which would bring in the viewers.

They're linked with TSG Fight Club in Southend through the Burzotta family (Alex Burzotta co-owns UWC & Daniel Burzotta is the trainer at the TSG Fight Club) so have a few names like Stav Economou & Walter Gahadza who feature on their cards regularly but unless FW is going to throw some money behind them, the level of contest will stay at the good domestic level it currently is.

I know a lot of MMA fans are up in arms about MMA being associated with allegedly, but as far as I'm aware they've just brought the rights to broadcast the shows & FWP will have no input whatsoever.
