According to some press reports. Seems the Kessler fight is less likely for this year and more likely for early next year if Bute decides against the rematch.

Decent enough fight if it does come off, but there's an element of high risk low reward if Froch goes and stops Pavlik.

Froch has also said to Sky he was misquoted on the Khan situation and cleared up what he meant.

id rather watch kessler again than pavlik who doesnt seem to be top level anymore

I like this fight, Froch 'should' win but Pavlik is a tough hombre with a punch who comes to fight.

I would have thought it was the other way around, low risk/high reward.

Is there not much money in a Froch vs Pavlik fight? I thought there would be.

What part of his style do you think would give Carl probs Lefty. I only ask as Pavlik seems a pretty up-right standard boxer with a good punch and a decent chin to me.

Pavlik needs to steer clear of the lager if he comes over here.

Well this is just my take on it mate but my reasoning behind feeling that way is that Pavlik is a come forward fighter, he likes to put the pressure on using the standard 1-2 but he's also added the left hook to his arsenal in recent fights. He's also tall and rangy *probably taller than Froch* So Carl wont be able to keep him at bay as easily with the jab as he has with Arthur Abraham or Glen Johnson who both like to come forward but are both quite short for the weight class, Froch could use his long jab to keep them at bay and thats what he did a lot in those fights. Also another reason I feel this way is that the fighters that tend to give Pavlik the most problems are guys with good speed particularily foot speed like Martinez and I think foot speed or lack of it is one of Froch's short comings. He wont be able to dart in and out as easily basically.

Yeah you're right Pavlik is taller but their reach is the same apparently. I think footwork and speed give them both problems but Carl's proven at the higher weight/level and Pavlik is not what he was.

Froch will love this bout to come off; Pavlik is a good pull in the US and has not been outpunched before. Kelly is not the model pro and dissipates between fights. Froch keeps in very good shape between bouts and still seems to enjoy the sport. He'll force Kelly back by the 4th round and stop him around the 10th with a good pace.

I think Pavlik is a model pro now mate to be fair, he trains with Robert Garcia now in Oxnard, California and tends to take two weeks off after fights and then gets straight back in training.

Dont think he was misqouted per se but the context of what he was saying was misinterpreted.

The BBC have changed their headline now. They (I'm almost certain) had their headline as 'Khan should retire - Froch' or something like that, rather than what they have now which is 'I'd retire if I was knocked out like that - Froch.'

Bring it on! I'd love to see it, personally. Pavlik's made for Carl, imo, & it can't fail to be a bit of a spectacle. My only worry is that it's gonna put more miles on Carl before the Kessler rematch. Has the potential to be a war, because I bet you Pavlik can hurt him. I wonder if he can hurt him enough to win, though. My guess is no, but...

pavlik isnt the same fighter with the drink problems and the schooling from hopkins, if pavlik can get another fight with a marquee name under his belt i think he would be ready then.

nice unification bout, and a decent fight... cant see magee beating froch but will give him a good scrap, styles make fights and all that

the last time they fought back in 2006 was really close until froch chinned him

If Magee beats Balzsay, I'd rather he fought Groves or DeGale.

Personally that fight doesnt interest me in the slightest!

Pavlik will beat Froch by UD or late stoppage.

Pavlik is made for Froch. If Eddie H could make that match, Froch would stop him and turn him into a huge star.

I agree whole heartedly. Pavlik has looked like crap in his last 2 comeback fights and is suddenly going to be good enough to go up a divsion where he's shown no real power and beat the number 2 guy?

Why do Americans always think Froch is going to get stopped? He's been down once as an am or pro and has one of the best chins in world boxing. How many times did we see that Kessler was going to KO him, then Abraham was going to KO him then Bute was going to KO him? There are very few certainties in life, but one of is Froch won't be KO'd.

Can someone fill me in on when exactly Pavlik turned into a threat again? The last I heard, he was an alcoholic with no desire for boxing. Now suddenly he is facing Froch at supermiddle? I must have missed a fair bit???
