Alvarado is unbeaten in 33(barely), is a "puncher" but not a great counter puncher, its a sellable fight, and winnable for Khan

oh and he stopped the guy who demolished Khan in a round (despite taking a vferocious one sided pounding before Prescott gassed)

Alvarado v Rios, Maidana or Matthyse would be much preferable, they would just be pure wars. Khan probably needs a fighter who isn't willing to go through hell to get the W.

That's assuming he could get the W, let's be honest, had Khan not already beaten Judah and Maidana, who would honestly say Khan could beat either of them on his best day following the Garcia performance? especially after Judahs destruction of Vernon. Khan has already beaten guys who should theoretically be a nightmare for him, Alvarado is not as big a risk as Judah was (I thought if Judah couldn't counter him, Garcia certainly shouldn't, but as Khan said, that's boxing)


Alvarado is made for him IMO, and hes unbeaten, highly ranked, and a big puncher, but not quick on the counter at all, I would see Khan slicing Mike up.

Khan needs a big win now, no easy "warm ups" any more, hes way beyond that point now, it's do or die.

And how much punishment did he actually take vs Garcia? This retirement talk is nonsense. Remember there was an article on ESB the other day that said "I can't recall a top notch fighter ever coming back from such a devastating loss in recent times" referring to Khans loss to Garcia

uh...Khan did for a start, the Prescott defeat was MUCH worse, Khan was laid out flat. Yes it's easy to say "Oh now the blueprint has been laid, any decent counter puncher will stop him now" but I said that before the Judah fight, Judah would counter him with a big shot and lay him out, it didnt quite work out that way. The blue print has always been there, Khan was just good at avoiding it since he got with Roach. He didn't take a career ending pasting from Garcia, he can still come back, if he actually aknowledges his weaknesses once again.

incidentally I would pick Matthysse to beat Alvardo handily, Maidana not so easily, Rios, well, I've always found him stupendously over rated

Judah was old, and wasn't very good to begin with. Another guy who looks excellent when on top but, as his long history illustrates, is always one punch away from losing all heart and unravelling. He turned pro in 1996 when Amir was NINE for God's sake! That's how shopworn he is.

Alvarado is a nightmare opponent for Khan - a great chin and a big punch, and not only that extremely game. Even if his jaw is broke in three pieces and his eye is hanging out Alvarado will be trying to take your head off till the last bell. I can't imagine what drugs someone would have to imbibe to come to the conclusion that Khan can suddenly can learn the great fighter's instinct to adjust midfight and overcome a man who is better than Prescott and Garcia.

Terrible fight for Khan. He would get KO'd.

Alvarado is fighting Katsidis next, i think Khan should fight someone like Mauricio Herrera before juming in with the elite of the division

Zab was very good to begin with, and he always had the shot, which he nailed paris with and I thought he might nail khan with.
