This is an interesting fight. Erick has to beat these fighters to move on to the next level. Im sure he will and then CommonWealth or British level.

Ryan is tough and I was very suprised when got knocked out by Omera but I think Ochieng is too smart for him.

Ryan Toms hits hard with the back hand and also being a southpaw will be awkward for Erick Ochieng, but Toms is a bit stiff and robotic, this is where Ochieng will have an advantage, with flexibility, movement and skill he will outbox Toms, I think Toms will give it a good go, as he did with Selkirk, though last time he met a pure boxer he was stopped.

Didnt see fight with Selkirk was Selkirk dominating fight?

Selkirk got the better of Toms and gave him a bad cut, which stopped the fight, but Toms did give him a fight, O'meara stopped Toms in the first round after out boxing him, Toms did not look too good in that fight, he also drew with weise who O'meara also stopped early and O'Meara does not stop many. With a non boxer Toms looks good, but against boxers he does not perform as well, I think Ochieng could win this at the ready.

Well I think should be a decent fight. Erick cant take anyone to lightly he is training hard. You try and come down for that fight Saf its a good bill. Did you tell me what Nas is doing next?

Yes Mcato, as I said he can bang with the backhand, so Erick cannot come at him in straight lines, How is Erick with southpaws ? Nasser is fighting in september in Birmingham, no opponent as yet, no change there, lets hope we can get a good match.

Not for september, Nasser is fasting for ramadan, he cannot spread his meals for his diet, so would not be able to lose the weight and certainly not while retaining strength, so he will fight at light middle, he will be fighting at welter after his next fight because he has just been given a world ranking by the WBC at welter, after being unlucky not to get the decision in Italy against no 6 in the world Della Rosa for the WBC International Title over 12 rounds.

Della Rosa definatley beatable did Nas fight at Welter? Why not go for the big boys like Selkirk, Omeara, Nas needs to get recognised

Della Rosa would beat most of the light middles over here, because he is so strong and has fought for a world title in Germany, only losing on a split decision, Nas won a WBC title at welter at the end of 2010 and has fought around welter before has well, also when he fought Jamie Ball he came in at 10st 10lbs and nearly the same against Della Rosa, both fights where 11st fights, In my opinion Selkirk and O'meara are not the big boys, Selkirk can't do the rounds at the moment and until he shows he can do the rounds, he cannot be classed a championship fighter, plus he cannot do 11st, more like 11st 7lbs and above, O'meara has only had two good wins against ordinary fighters after being wrote off, Ryan Rhodes, Sam Webb and Prince Arron are the type you could class the big boys, because they have held big titles before, Don't follow the hype from the big stables, until they (A) put the rounds in the bag at a good pace without blowing out or (B) Fought at the championship weight or (C) either stepped up in class or won a title, lets not get carried away.

Saf when i mean big boys i mean in the class of fighters boxers like Erick & Nas could fight. I'm a realist and theres no way Nas will get a fight against Ryan Rhodes Sam Webb or Prince Aaron who is now a middleweight so the big boys in the class that he will have to defeat to get to the next level are Selkirk, Ochieng, Doran, Omeara that is the reality unless you go another route.

I have to disagree on this point Mcato, Nasser has a world ranking Selkirk, Doran and Omeara don't, I don't know why Doran is in there, he might not fight again and he lost his confidence after his last fight, but like I said these fighters are hype jobs at the moment via big promoters, at least Ochieng has an english title, Nas will never get a shot at these guys unless it is on their promoters show, at short notice or with a weight disadvantage, please tell me if that is not the case. I believe Jamie cox though recovering from hand problems at the moment is better then the fighters you have mentioned, a real handful. Do you know how many hype jobs with big promoters have bit the dust ? I understand your point that our fighters need to beat these guys at some point, but on who's terms, on level playing fields yes.

[quote="Talkischeap"]Thanks Naj, Selkirk Good lad but not the same at 11st IMO. Jamie I believe next season will show exactly how good he is he has fought his pro career thus far with one & a half hands he will now have 2 good hands please God. Nas has answered his critics & has proven for me that he is worthy of a shot at anyone at 11st. Arron at Middleweight now I can see a cracking fight there eliminator maybe :-)[/quote

Thanks John, Selkirk V Prince Arron at Middleweight would be a good fight, but for me Selkirk has to improve his stamina first and not just against against lesser fighters, but against good fighters, in fights fought at good pace, I remember when Nasser was younger and we sparred Anthony Small and he seemed to get stronger in the later rounds, afterwards he told me before he never had any stamina, but he did not realise until he fought Bradley Pryce in a title fight and blew out, because it was fought at a fast pace, he told me afterwards he worked hard on his stamina and it gradually improved, Selkirk has not had regular fights to develop it, no matter how many rounds you do in the gym, how many sprints, how many circuits, how many runs, you never know for sure until you do it in meaningful fights against good opponents, I mean anyone can beat up on journeymen or novices for 8 or 10 rounds without getting tired, different when you are put under pressure.

How does that work in reality - eg. just looking up on this site his ranking is 16 in Great Britain and 158 in the World ?

Because boxrec is not an official ranking system and neither are boxing news, boxing monthly and most of the sites around the world, but the biggest sanctioning body in the world the WBC is. The WBC, WBA and IBF use their own ranking system, quite rightly to determine who fights for titles and also look at each others sites as well when ranking is determined, I also think Nasser's performance against WBC no 6 and world title challenger Della Rosa in Italy had a lot to do with it as well. Knocking out journeymen and novices would hardly achieve that, also look on boxrec rankings and you will see fighters out of weight division and some with few fights right up the ranking, if you get all the mags and web sites together, not one will have the same top ten and a lot are behind people they have already beat. The BBB of C don't have a ranking system themselves. I hope that clears it up for you.

i think the board should create a ranking system. wud b helpful for fans to follow whos in line or who should get a chance or shot at a title or eliminator

Maley, I have spoke to to the board about this before, it would stop the promoters dictating who fights for the titles and have more consistency on who gets the title shots, eliminators are not worth the paper they are written on, ask Matthew Hall he won an eliminator for the british title against Carslaw, but Carslaw got the shot at Rose for the british( maybe because he was an easier option ), whilst Hall had to fight in a final eliminator against Webb which he lost on a close decision and is now out the picture.

I was suggesting Thomas & Arron Naj :-)
That would be a good fight as well, not sure how good Aron's punch resistance is, he has folded in the past under pressure, but he can punch and is awkward to fight, could lift Thomas on to the bigger picture.
