On the boxrec results it says Mercer won in the third round on Saturday. Elsewhere it has been reported he demolished his opponent in 2 rounds.

Does anybody have the definite result?

Whatever the case Mercer is done as far as the world stage is concerned.

He always struck me as the kind of fighter who would do brilliantly in a pub fight. (and judging by press stories, he spends a fair bit of time in bars...)

From Fightnews.com below. I've read KO 2 elsewhere as well.

Former WBO heavyweight "Merciless" Ray Mercer(33-5-1, 25 KOs) scored a second round knockout over Steve Pannell (33-8, 27 KOs) Saturday night at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino in Fort Lauderdale Florida. After a 25-minute delay between rounds one and two due to the absence of the emergency medical team who were tending to fallen warrior Luis Villalta, Mercer rebounded from a sluggish start to floor Pannell with a ferocious left-right combo. In addition, Mercer landed a right hand while Pannel seemed to be down. Pannell laid on his back and referee Bill Connors counted to ten ending the fight with 50 seconds left in the round.

Thanks, that's 3 places that say 2 now. The delay may have confused the boxrec reporter/statistician.

That's a weird one for the fighters, a 25 minute delay between round 1 and 2! Bowe, Holyfield and the Fan man was another fight that caused a long delay between rounds.

Any more?

Yes, Bowe was really on top when the fight got stopped at that point, he didn't seem the same after the delay.

Who is Bowe? You have confused me there...
