I've just noticed that Joe Louis will recieve a MASSIVE point boost...

5 pts for winning the WBA Title
4 pts for retaining the WBO Title
5 pts for winning the Lonsdale Belt.

The good "Joe's" of simboxing don't care about all that bling. Joe Louis probably just looks for the best fights...as does a fella like say Joe Frazier.

Never mess with a genuine bonafide Palooka.

Maybe I'll put it in the Kid's record... But my stable did not ask for that fight.

Let me tell you somethin' here and now, Shit happens......it's how many of us "arrived".

I'd say the Kid arrived by holding Corbett to a draw.

You know creapse (may I call you creapse?) YOU always take the easy fights, talk the big talk, make much adu over nothing, and then whine complain and whimper.....(especially so when a GBP fighter beats the pee waddly poo out of your lousy excuse for a stable.....as they inevitably ALWAYS do.) I had thought that having a commission position would begin to bring the best out of you....but Darren Corbett? He's nothin' but a Zellenoff with unstuffed gloves.

Why don't you just take candy from babies...and get it over with?

Or perhaps Rick Roll a granny?

You sir, need to step it up, and strive to bring a shine and luster back those so fortunate as to be entrusted with commish responsibility. I've got a mind to instruct my stable to decimate both of your fighters in week 17. Why? Simply because I can. Joe would smoke the Rock, and Loi would feast on Chocolate.

You know it, I know it, and Ed Khil (may god rest his soul) knows it.

Trolololo.......Ha Ha ha ha!

I am reading and weeping.

2 losses, both on injury. The Pea was outclassing Charles until a cut eye gives Charles the win and while Armstrong was behind to Ali, its was by one point in 2 cards and again injury blunts his inevitable win.

Too late to consider swapping someone around, Comish?

You may swap.....however under Crease's rules, new fighters have little chance of excelling over the season. Better to feed your fighter some weak opposition and "pad" his record, and get back toward the top.

New starts are pretty much doomed from the gitgo.

However, I will be posting the Title Bout ratings soon, just to bring some context to the discussion.

Another reason I don't like the new ranking system.

In the past, people could jump in at any time and make a name for themself. Now, it's pretty tough to make any significant movement once the season is a few weeks in.

Yep, 14 points for 1 win is ridiculous as well. I'm all for multi-title fights offering a point or 2 more, but more than 3 times the number for a title defence?

The problem is that Buzz has all the fighter's records wrong and that will severely impact things.

Detroit, it's only around 5 fights for the Heavies...and some exhibtions that are additional.....when I publish them, we can fetter out the problems, but I doubt they are that all that bad when combined with the 17 actual fights...(The Heavies are the ones who get the advantage, and maybe crease could recognize and "cancel" that advantage if a fighter has a shorter career, it does not discriminate terribly. And that could be a plus for those who are "swapping out". (It does NOT give an advantage, but it does NOT appear to give a great disadvanatage either...it's very neutral in terms of "how many fights". This does NOT mean it would place a fighter at the top, who had only one winning fight....but would also not put a fighter in the basement for a single loss. It would depend on WHO the wins and losses were against. It's a pretty complex algorhythm.

Maybe worth a look at least....after fight 17. Maybe Crease could "factor" it in, with some of his magical "subjective" reasoning. At this point it's creases call, so he may elect to continue down the ol' "one for you, one & two for me......two for you......one, two, & three, for me system.

Just kidding crease, but the TBII ratings could maybe be utilized by you in some way.

Which is very much like real life. After a top boxer loses, usually he will pick a B class opponent to get back to winning ways.
BoxBuzz wrote:New starts are pretty much doomed from the gitgo.
I think that's a veyr unfair statement to make. "New starts" as you call them, are immediately elliigible to fight for the IBO and WTF titles. Not to mention that ALL sub 15 fighters have three Prizefighter tournaments top cater for their needs.

It's not the doom and gloom that you make it out to be, Buzz.

You made your feelings on the points system crystal clear before Mr Detroit. I can see now that you plan to throw your support behind any perceived opposition to the points system.

In it's defence, it is objective and impartial... and the points system is the same for all of us.

I can understand why you are against that, seeing as Louis usurped your fighter's (Benny Leonard) position at the top of the tree. But what would you suggest?
Howabout no more than 10 points for a unifying win?

And after all this was a big money fight, so in the name of consistency it would be a big point fight.
:TU:

Please get back to me on this and any ideas you may have for a rankings structure.
And I'll leave you with this thought: It's easy to criticise, it's hard to organise.
