Am I missing something here?

I've scanned this page three times and haven't spotted a single thread dedicated to Nicola Adams' fantastic achievement at the Olympics today.
Have I taken too many blows to the head or do people really not think this was worthy of a thread of its own?
Personally, I thought she was superb and hope she is given the funding to stay amateur until at least after Rio in 2016.

I can't see her having any problem with funding. Was an amazing performance. She bossed it.

She should make millions with a smile and a personality like that.

I was also surprised that there wasn't a thread earlier. She was excellent, gold medal and set for life, not a bad achievement!

Nicola, Katie Taylor and Clarissa Shields were all excellent and deserve all the plaudits in the world for making history.
I have read some negative comments on here about women's boxing, 1 e.g. about detesting women's boxing, which I don't get at all.
Good on all 3 of them.

Um is that the girl that was on the front page of BoxRec when I logged on here just before, the first woman to ever win Olympic boxing gold?

That's right. She was first rate.

OP - someone has to start a thread, so if you don't see one you would like to see, start it yourself! Now you've taken the trouble to start a thread pointing out that there isn't a thread! :P
You're right though - fantastic achievement and I'm not saying it to be all PC but some of the women's boxing (rather like the football) was certainly more entertaining than the men's.

So, what's the score re women who have this kind of exposure at the Olympics if they want to go pro?
I mean in terms of is it likely they'll be signed by a big promoter do we think, how do you bring along a female fighter given the ..lack of female fighters, can she be a draw, etc etc.
I don't like women's boxing but i am interested.

Brilliant achievement. Thought you boxed a brilliant fight particularly in the final. Put the pressure on early, got a lead and then never let up the pressure.
I was a cynic with female boxing I must say, but the quality at the Olympics has been very good, some cracking tear ups. Worth also saying that most non boxing fans I know ie at my work have been a lot more impressed with the womens boxing than the mens, mainly it seems because they don't hang around and just get stuck in, going hell for leather.

I was just surprised that stumblIng onto the forum at close to midnight, a good seven hours after the fight, nobody had bothered to highlight Nicola's historic achievement.
People are quick enough to slag off the mens team, the officials etc but here we are with a good news story and, arguably, the biggest boxing story of the games and nobody sees fit to mention it.
Seems strange to me

The story was on the news site less than an hour after she won the medal.
When you say strange, what exactly do you mean?

I didn't watch a single punch thrown in the women boxing deliberately, but gold is a fantastic achievement so well done Nicola

Congrats to her and Katie Taylor, unfortunately that's as good as it's gona get for them, the pro circuit is very poor for the women, but what ever they decide to do good luck girls
And as for no thread, well someone has to start it and that was you, well done
