According to boxingtalk.net, Junior Witter takes on Italy's Salvatore Battaglia for the vacant European light-welterweight title in Bradford on April 9 or 10.

At least this is a meaningfull fight...no african roadsweepers.

I hope Junior wins and goes on to better things....but he pissed on his own bondfire when he pulled ou the Pinto fight...legit injury or not. But he seems to be going the right way to make up for it.

I thought purse bids went to Italy, what happened there?

Cant see it being the 10th. The BBC wont have the balls to go head to head with Sky and the Brodie Bill.

allegedly won the first bid as you know, then failed to meet a deadline to stage the fight, so it went back to purse bids and Hennessy won. Warren claimed he wasn't given the chance to bid second time due to the Board misinforming him of the bidding date, but reading between the lines, he's not really interested in Witter any more (allegedly).

Was getting confused, got it arse about face, I already knew about this, I was thinking of Eastman who is doing the travelling, easy mistake to make seeing as Hennessey isn't Witter's promoter etc, got it all arse about face.

Good match up this one.

I think Witter may have his work cut out, unless he really has improved as much as his record suggest's.

I am still far from convinced though, he has been spouting so much shite about what he can do, when the reality is he hasn't really fought anyone of note.

I can't really see how Pinto was any more of a risk than this fight is going to be.

I have lost complete interest in Witters career which im gutted about because im convinced he could be a world class fighter.

i suppose if pinto kicks ricky's backside next month we'll all be praising witter and saying what a wise choice that was to sidestep pinto.

I personally dont blame Witter for not fighting him at this stage and im glad he didnt now we will see him in with Ricky.
