Great opportunity for Frampton. I'm assuming it'll be for the Commonwealth title, maybe some International title thrown in? Really looking forward to it. They both have a bit to prove, so much better than the Kiko fight.

Surely if Frampton wins this without any controversy then he will be in line for either an immediate World title shot or a final eliminator. As a former IBF champ (2 times) who has won his comeback fight Molitor must be ranked top 3 or so by the IBF.

Martinez is ranked higher than Molitor by the WBC, WBA & IBF (according to fightnews). If Frampton can beat Molitor then a fight against Martinez will still be a good idea.

WBC - Molitor No. 11, Martinez No. 7
WBA - Molitor (unranked), Martinez No. 14
IBF - Molitor (unranked), Martinez No. 7, Frampton No. 15
WBO - All unranked

Anyway, Molitor is a very good replacement for Martinez.

Just checked Molitor's record and he hasn't fought this year but I'd imagine, like I say, that with Molitor being a former 2 time IBF champ and having won a 'comeback fight' after losing his title, that he will be ranked above Martinez once the IBF review their ratings.

What is actually wrong with Kiko? Molitors as good a replacement as you could get this close to the fight. But i preferred Kiko as an opponent. I wanted to see Framptons chin tested.

Eddie's pinched Barry's opponent! Kid Galahad was gonna be boxing Molitor in October.

Nice move by Eddie, this is a top fight.

Molitor's a lot tougher fight for Frampton than Kiko was IMO, brave decision.
Although Molitor did look less slick than normal the last time I saw him

Molitor has lost it a bit, but this is still a top fight. Well done Matchroom.

Molitor has fought in the last 12 months though, so he should be counted as an active fighter by the IBF.

Is Frampton vs Martinez still planned to take place after the Molitor fight?

Kiko has signed a deal with Maravilla Box Team, the new promoting brand of argentinian Maravilla Martinez, so he could be fighting in USA in the next months.
