Holyfield is a legend, but he needs money. Not least to maintain the 11 children he's fathered.

I have said for a hole now, this will not end well, & could even end in tragedy. Holyfield is shot. His speech is declining. He's going backwards as a fighter. He needs to stop, but won't.

He was a fantastic fighter in his day. Unfortunately I will always be asking myself how much of it was down to Evan Fields's purhcases.

It's quite clear from this recent interview that Evander's speech is getting worse. Its time for him to call it a day. I remember seeing Wlad on Ringside over a year back saying that he would not fight this version of Evander out of respect for his past achievements.

Disappointhing that the vote poll on the links website is 65%-35% in favour of a Klitschko V Holyfield fight. It is harder to believe that Evander's doctors are passing him fit to fight!

A great, great fighter - luckily for all of us Holyfield already said on CNN if he cannot get a Klitschko fight - which he won't out of the brothers reverence for him - before he turns 50 then he will retire. So looks like this exhibition with Mercer will be the curtain call.

I don't think he sounds all that bad.

I've heard worse interviews from him.... he's nowhere near as punchy as Tommy Hearns, or Riddick Bowe.

In terms of his health and for the image of the sport which aint great by all means, he should never be allowed to box again, he's on a one way trip to pugilistic dementia and a fight against a Klitchsko will only get him there quicker.. But in terms of his family and his debt problems he should be allowed to earn the money the only way he knows how putting his health on the line

The Klitchskos regardless of which one ends up going in with him would utterly destroy him and they would probably end up hating themselves for doing it in the same manner that Larry Holmes hated himself after knocking the hell out of an ageing (and arguably more shot) Muhammed Ali for 15 rounds. But yet 60,000 German fight fans will pack a football stadium somewhere in Germany and 11 million people will watch it on RTL because of Holyfield's name and his achievements.

Evander is not going to get a Klitschko fight. He should give it up now or stick to fighting exhibitions against other over the hill fighters. A Klitschko fight wouldn't earn him much anyway, Wlad would just get criticised for taking the fight, and Vitali wouldn't want to end his career knocking Holyfield out at his age. Boxing doesn't owe Holyfield a living, especially after he has squandered millions and fathered children he can't support.

Vitali wouldn't knock Holyfield out.

I'd stick money on it.

Dont think the last ten years has affected anything......the man was an alltime great by 1992..from 1992 to 1999 he was a less effective but still tougher than anything in the HW division in 2012 proposition.....from 2000-2002 we started to see a man finally shot.....from 2002-2005 he hit his nadir....from 2006-2008 he was highly competitive with the divisions best and should have been given the Valuev decision....since than its just been exhibition mode..if anything the last ten years just tells us more about the mans indomitible spirit and will to win....his true legacy was built 1984-1999

Nah, no chance - infact it has possibly even enhanced his legacy somewhat. He was faded in 1998 if you ask me. He looked like he lost a step in the Vaughan Bean fight.

The fact he has recently shown to be competitive in a world title fight, many people believing he beat a younger Valuev more convincingly than Haye only shows what a great fighter he was in his pomp. He would have outclassed the giant in his pomp - made him look silly.

Absolutely nothing Holyfield has done in the last 10 years can diminish what he did 1984-1999.

Even this last decade, as an old man, he has beaten a Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz, Fres Oquendo and been denied an easy, wide decision over Nikolay Valuev. He has given us some entertainment.

For this alone he deserves a shot... for being an OAP he doesn't...
It's difficult to defrenciate justice (he should've been world champ so deserves another shot) and what you feel is the right thing to do (he will probably get badly hurt)!

While not proven in a court of law, the guy has been STRONGLY and CONVINCINGLY linked to taking PEDs and probably throughout his career. The guy is a douchebag and IS guilty of it afaic. Of course, no one will agree because it doesn't suit the argument.

I hope karma catches up with him.

I never once used the word evidence, but based on the stories I've read (the Evan Fields saga) I'm pretty convinced.

We act as though this guy was the second coming of Christ behaviour wise. He was a womanising, adulterous moron. You're right, there is no CONCLUSIVE evidence, but I'm prepared to believe that he used them.
