For me, growing up in the 80s my all time favourite heavyweight was mike tyson! He just seemed to liturally walked though every oppoment he faced, sometimes with devastating results. So for me a 20yr old mike tyson was on his own at the top of the heavys. ps. his knock out over pinkleton thomas still stands the hairs up on the back of my neck! WOW

Ezzard Charles. Frazier. Sharkey. Jerry Quarry.

Holyfield.
Such guts and determination.Even though he was naturally smaller than most of the guys he was fighting he never ducked anyone and always gave value for money.
His fights with Bowe showed amazing courage on his part.
We've got to remember him for what he was, not what he's become.

Jack Dempsey without a doubt, followed by Rocky Marciano.

Of the current crop i.e. Still active, I'd have to go with, Roy Jones (if he qualifies) or Corrie Sanders.

Yes, I always liked Holmes. Vast talent. If he'd quit after the astonishing Mercer win (a man who later gave Lennox Lewis his toughest fight), he would be right up there for me. But he's still talking about fighting today. Silly.

Tyson for me, it was such a pitty that there were no great fighters during his first reign as champion. I am sure he could have beaten them all.

HURRAH! Not only is your posting name cool as all hell you have taste dude haha, I have to go along with that not cos I think he is the best ever but due to the plesure and great night sitting up til the early hours with good friends screamin at the tv, especially the holyfield battles

In my time I've most enjoyed watching.

Tyson: Turned me on to the sport in a really big way as a kid.
Holyfield: Hardly ever in anything less than a great fight, overachiever of the highest order.
Lewis: Brought dignity and consistency to a patchy division, the minute he leaves, look at the farcical situation the division is in.

A young Mike Tyson was awesome (the best I have seen).

Audley is my favourite , I like the way he conducts himself in and out of the ring and he is for the time being Britains best hope at success in the glory division. He is the first boxer that I have been able to watch progress, learn and improve from day one of his pro career (and before).

reckon you could be right mate but mainly due to the fact there isnt a lot out there to trouble him, but go Aud!

Before anyone accuses the above poster of being me on a wind up, I'll save you the bother, it's not.

It'll be interesting to find out who it is. There's no consitancy in the errors, so it is obviously somebody having a laugh.

I'm not being funny here, but Seif, is English not your first language or something.

For the record, Mike Tyson would have shit in his pants getting in the ring with a murderous bastard like Liston. Liston was aged by the time he got in the ring with Ali, and Ali's movement around the ring was the difference.

Liston had the best jab ever, it was more of a straight left than a jab, and he would have pummelled Mike with it and then taken him to pieces with his right cross.

Technically, Liston was also far better than Tyson, who was never an all round fighter, nor a good inside fighter.

Liston also had a rock-hard chin, and was naturally as strong if not stronger than Tyson. He had shoulders like an ox, and fists like boulders.

Tyson could not have intimidated Liston, and when Liston stood up to him and started hitting him back, the fight would have been much like the Douglas fight, except Liston would have done the job a lot quicker.

Sugar Ray Robinson is pound for pound the greatest fighter of all time.

Excellent post on Liston! He never seems to get the credit he deserves.
Where do all these huge Tyson fans come from anyway?
It's a fact that fighters that were not intimidated beat him. Easily.
