Yet again the show overrun my Sky epg. Yes, I know about the manual record, but forgot.

Me too.elephant man wrote:This is not just allegedly channel. I have recorded shows on Sky 1, Sky Sports and even terrestrial that my HD box has messed up and stopped recording before the show is over.
A stipulation is that you have a accurate listing? Well that's easy how about listing the event and with an hour to spare and if the event finishes on time just have pundits in the studio sitting around talking boxing and shit , maybe even show a few rounds from fighters featuring in future bouts onchad wrote:A stipulation of being on the Sky platform is channels must provide accurate listings to SKY. Allegedly channel would have checked the broadcast length with the host broadcaster, being ARD in Germany, and submitted what they believed to be accurate information. Channels providing info to Sky can't just say to Sky that a show will run for 6 hours when it won't. Apparently the main event last night was delayed by almost 30 minutes. There is nothing any broadcaster can do about this. The show overrun on German TV also.
I can understand the frustration people have however people themselves need to take a bit of ownership. If you've found some of these shows have overrun their advertised broadcast time previously, why wouldn't you either set a manual record or record the next programme on the EPG too if possible? It's not difficult at all. Why anyone would refuse to set a manual record, when it's clearly to their benefit, is beyond me.
Sorry, your post has left me a little confused. Do you think I'm employed by allegedly? Just to clarify I've got nothing to do with allegedly. I'm just a boxing fan who has recently started posting here. I just thought I'd try and give a balanced view on the subject. A lesson I learned years ago, prior to allegedly launching, is live events overrun their advertised slots from time to time. It doesn't harm anyone to take a little bit of ownership when setting recordings, rather than rigidly sticking to the EPG. If nobody else can see the value in this then they'll simply miss out.Final round wrote:A stipulation is that you have a accurate listing? That wouldn't be so hard would it? It's still boxing you're not false advertising , I'm sure the Sky listings Gestapo won't come knocking or just stick a great feck off BN logo. Don't come on here blaming the customers for not making contingency plans for your listing having no flexibility.

I use my Sky+ to record a huge amount of TV - both recorded and live events - across a number of channels, both Sky and non-Sky. In the last 3 years, I can recall one instance of a non-allegedly recording ending before the end of the broadcast, and that was an American comedy whose ending was of little consequence. I have never missed the end of a recorded live sport show on Sky, BBC, ITV, etc. I have also never manually set a channel to record the subsequent programme "just in case". A number of these instances have included overrunning broadcasts, including boxing from abroad, football matches going to penalties, etc.chad wrote:Sorry, your post has left me a little confused. SKY make sure the information on their own channels are updated regularly using their dynamic EPG. So say the darts on SKY Sports 1 will overrun by 30 minutes, SKY will change the end time on the EPG meaning anyone recording the broadcast won't miss a minute. Apparently this is a very expensive service to use and only the likes of BBC, ITV and ESPN will pay the extra fee for the service. Most people don't even notice that SKY have changed the EPG info during the live broadcast. That's one reason why most SKY broadcasts never seem to overrun.earsjohn wrote:I use my Sky+ to record a huge amount of TV - both recorded and live events - across a number of channels, both Sky and non-Sky. If the BN issue was a one-off, it could be forgiven, but it is not. It is almost standard on imported broadcasts and has happened at least twice on UK broadcasts (FWP or Queensbury shows). What baffles me is the refusal to accept that it is an issue that needs addressing. If it really is a technical issue to do with the broadcast licence, then why can't a reminder be put in the programme summary that would flag the possibility of an overrun to customers setting up their recordings or be highlighted in the emails sent out to subscribers? And why has there been no official word from the company? They are more than happy to retweet customers praising the value for money provided, so why not answer a simple and genuinely irritating issue posed by a paying subscriber?
I'm sorry Chad, but customer satisfaction should be the number one priority of a subscription channel like Allegedly channel - all issues like this should have been addressed within a month of encryption, not still be occurring approaching the channels 1st birthday. Yes, the solution to missing the boxing is pretty simple from a customer point of view, but it should not be the customers providing work arounds to a problem of the channels making. At the very least, it smacks of amateurism.
That would be the ideal solution.G0mez wrote:Just add 30 mins to the segment on the EPG as a buffer. Job done.
I think what earsjohn is saying is that a) he'd rather the channel sort it than him and b) they should respond - directly - to subscribers' questions if they are prepared to directly re-tweet praise.chad wrote:SKY make sure the information on their own channels are updated regularly using their dynamic EPG. Allegedly channel have made this issue clear in their support section.
http://www.Allegedly channel.com/support/
"Q: How do I make sure I record all of the fight?
A: Due to the nature of live boxing, shows sometimes exceed their time slots.
As a result, we advise all users to manually add time to the length of their recording to ensure they don't miss a single moment.
Click here for instructions for Sky viewers.
Or, Virgin users, click here."
This information is clear and allows anyone considering subscribing to the channel know that this might be a problem they encounter. If people can't live with this they don't have to go ahead and subscribe. Allegedly channel are being upfront allowing people to make an informed decision before choosing to part with their £10.00 per month.
I just don't see what the big problem is here. It'll take less time and effort to set a manual record than it does to make a post on this forum, complaining about missing the end of a recent broadcast. People have posted in this thread, and other threads, that this has happened to them before with Allegedly channel yet they still don't set a manual record. I agree that people should complain to Allegedly channel directly if they are not happy however until something is done about it just set manual recordings. People only have themselves to blame if they keep on allowing this to happen to them over and over again.
How dare you blame Sky? Its all Fwank's fault!DMMA wrote:Luckily I turned over in time to watch it live but noticing the time thought I'd have missed the start, only to find it hadn't begun and that the show was running way late. Thought at the time this would catch people recording it out.
But, it's not just BN - it's happened all to often with UFC on ESPN and various sports including some big matches on Sky Sports, so they aren't infallible. I've complained to Sky and had crap, pat excuses back.
As a result of too many disappointments I always record the next programme too, like others, but it's a pita when the box is near full. Imo, Sky should get a better process and sort this as source of the initial problem.
All the other channels manage to get it right, can't see why allegedlies channel can't do the samesaturday_kid wrote:Hardly the channel's fault
Have a bit of responsibility and record the programme after if its live.

Has it though? The reasons for missed endings has been explained, but the strategy behind its continued occurrence hasn't. Why don't BN build in a buffer for all shows to guarantee nothing's missed? It's simple, cheap and wouldn't p1ss off their subscriber base. Or maybe it helps ad revenue to force viewers to watch the repeat as well as recording the live show?mickey1975 wrote:Its all been explained earlier in the thread.Chambers2 wrote:All the other channels manage to get it right, can't see why allegedlies channel can't do the samesaturday_kid wrote:Hardly the channel's fault
