28 Days Paleo...

Right, here I go.

I short, my diet has been getting better and better over the last year, to the extent that (with the exception of the odd cheat day) I eat very clean nearly all the time.

I now feel ready to go the whole hog, and give paleo a whirl. I hadn't previously, as I thought it would have been too big a jump from my previous lifestyle, and such a shock to the system, i'd probably fail epically. I've got some mates who do it, and they all say once you get into it, and into the habit of buying the right things/getting organised, it's great.

Anyway... as of today, I've started. Its best to see for yourself and see if it works for you I guess, so I'm going to give it 28days - with the exception of a cheat meal each week - i'm not a savage :DD

So, tips, recipes, criticism, help all appreciated, gents. I'll keep you updatd with my progress...

Basically you eat all natural unprosessed foods.

Eddie does that mean no rice or oats? Where are the carbs coming from?

paleo from paleolithic area..........before modern agriculture. So no grains, etc. No dairy, legumes, sugar.

Basically only meat, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, little fruit if trying to cut weight.

I've been doing it for a year, love it.

Gave it a go, lasted a week. Will try again when I can commit to it.

One recipe I liked was when I halved a pepper and scraped the seeds out. Crack an egg in with bits of meat (your choice) and then grill that bad boy. Bon appetite.

Any good tips, recipes etc?

Dberry... as cletomex states above, quite a restricted diet, but meant to be the mutts nuts according to those who can stick to it :TU:

I don't cook anything special. I do 3 meals a day with an intermittent fasting schedule (16 hour fast everyday with a full 24 hour fast on Sunday, no breakfast ever), with each meal consisting of a lean protein source (chicken, pork, beef, eggs, or fish), big serving of vegetables (broccoli, asparagus, zuccini, carrots, bell pepper, green beans, peas, cauliflower, or spinach), and some nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans). 2 days a week I will add fruit (apple, banana, orange, pear, grapefruit, or peach) with each meal for a cycled high carb day. Iodized salt on all protein sources.

I still do have a whey protein shake after a workout (whey, cinnamon, olive oil, water) along with a handful of berries (raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry).

So... a few days in, and I always feel hungry. Not starving, by any means... but never really full, if that makes sense. Energy seems ok too. Need to put some extra nuts and seeds in the diet, I think.

I'm going to give this a go, it's not to far removed from how I eat now.

Yes, energy levels increased after a short while after starting. It seems when eating grains/carbs, a lot of energy is spent with blood flowing to the stomach and water retention which would make me a bit more lethargic......so after a switch to paleo, I always feel very strong and energized.

And bacon is paleo!!

Apparently this paleo diet is quite loosely based on what cavemen actually ate. This is something I can follow. Dairy and chips will be what makes it tough though.

BTW, what do you guys drink besides water?
Organic coffee, green tea, herbal teas, water with squeezed fresh lime juice, Absolut Vodka (only for cheat meal)
BTW if you ask me, I don't give a flying fak about what cavemen actually ate and as far as I know scientists argue quite a lot about it. What I really like about P.D. is the principle of nutritional density which I find very convincing and sensible. Also I'm having some very good results with it, both with myself and my clients.
