Help with boxing style

Hello guys, I´m new to this forum and have some questions I hope some more experienced fighters can help me with.

I´m 185 cm (6.1?) and my goal is to drop in weight down to 75 kg and start competing when I feel my cardio/condition is good enough, and I´ve had enough sparring etc..

The thing is, I have a bad shoulder/delta(?) due to a injury 2 years back (both my shoulders are a bit damaged/weakened) and therefor it feels a bit unnatural and scary for me to really let my jab and right cross extend to the point where I can really use my reach on shorter guys.
I´ve been doing boxing on and off for some years but now is the first time I´ve decided to really have a go at it and I want to compete in amateur boxing. My style has always been to keep my opponent away, but with my shoulders it just don't feel like that´s what I should do.

Lately in training I´ve tried a different style where I keep my hands held high all the time and move forward instead of moving away. (Like Ryota Murata) I guess it feels more natural for me to fight in close range and I find it easier to see openings for hooks/uppercuts to the body/head in close range than from long range. But, it takes no scientist to realize that by doing so you will take a hell lot more punches to the head, and even on the guard, your head gets kind of shaken.

I hope my writings don't come across to weird so no one can give me some tips, and I guess one of my questions is if this coming forward style like Murata does is common for tall skinny boxers? Or is he one of a kind in this style you´d say?
I know it´s all about having the style that feels natural for each boxer, but I feel this is the style I can do best without the risk of dislocating my shoulders. But on the other hand, my taller body may not be built to take 100 hard shots to the guard like he does every fight.

I´ve always been lifting weights and have a very strong back, so I´d say I'm pretty strong for being so tall with that weight.

if your a tall fella, watch a bit of diego corrales. he liked to fight on the inside. I would think about "methods of entry" if i were you. Maybe a cross arm defence to smother opponents strikes with a drop step to close distance. tbh, without a decent jab you are pretty handicapped im afraid. Cant you just grit your teeth and put up with it? Have you tried building up the muscles around the problem area?

Hey mate, check those excellent exercises for improving shoulder health. They should help regardless what is the nature of your injury. As far as boxing posture is concerned, those will strengthen the muscles notoriously stretched/week/inactive and improve shoulder joint stability. For best results pick 2 and do frequently for 6 weeks, then change.
