Is their a punch or knockout that sticks in your mind, ie When Tommy Hearns flattend DURAN!

Robinson-Fullmer, 1957. Robinson bangs in three long rights to the body in succession, then uncorks a left hook to the jaw. Fullmer falls in pieces to be counted out.

Another puncher of similar build would be Alexis Arguello: The Explosive Thin Man.
And this weekend we get to see the big punching Diego Corrales. The guys built like a stick insect but his punching power is scary. His win over Angel Manfredy was just awesome.
A knockout that always sticks in my mind was Sugar Ray Leonard's frightening destruction of England's Dave Boy Green.
He laid out poor Green with something like a four punch combo, all full power and landing flush. The last conected as Green was unconcious and already heading for the canvas.
Dave still didn't know where he was 15 minutes later.

Some of the KO's or knock downs especially the stick in my mind is the not clean punches that you think the fighter will easily get up form, but then you realise they are gone. This is especially vivid if its an upset ala Mayorga vs Forrest or Sanders vs Klitchko. You think the favourite has had the scare but should recover and call it a learning fight, but then you realise they're gone.
But on the explosive knockouts, its Duran vs Hearns or now Thompson vs Rothman. Brodie vs Swain was a devestating punch aswell.

Thats strange, my dads favourite too. he said the exact same thing about his recovery

poor Green. mind you, the guy saved all his fight money and bought the company he worked for after he finished boxing.( so referee roy francis tells me)!

Yes I hear Dave looked after his cash and is a succesful business man these days, which is great news.
I remember watching the fight while in the USA. At the ref's instructions Green tried to intimidate Leonard, but Sugar Ray just smiled and winked at him, as if to say "Don't worry, I'll make this short!"
I thought, Jesus, our guy is in big trouble here!
It was an amazing night of around 4 or 5 world title fights, all taking place in different parts of the States. Before the night was over we had another unforgetable knockout: Big John Tate, defending his Heavyweight title against Mike Weaver. Tate wins virtualy every round, then in the 15th and last Weaver finaly conects, and Big John is flattened by one punch from nowhere. It was unbelievable.

I think it was round four, but you're right, it was the last round!
Julian Jackson.

Mcallum against Don Curry for me. An evenly contested match up to that point and then a wide looping left hook left Curry in la-la land. Boxing at it's most dramatic.

has to be Jackson-Graham for me
Takaloo's KO of Jim Rock last year will always stick in my mind. Rock walked onto it, and it caught him flush. There was no comin back from that.

Ray Robinson's KO of Rocky Graziano left his left leg kicking involutarily. He must have been hit really hard to envoke such a strange reaction.

Yeah that was brutal. I think Rocky actualy put Ray over just before the KO didn't he?
Floyd Patterson's knockout of Johansson was similar. Floyd hit him so hard with a left hook that the Swede's legs went into convulsions on the canvas. Pretty scary that one.
Strangest one of all was Simon Brown getting knocked out late in his career. Unconcious and flat on his back on the canvas, with his eyes closed. he continues to throw punches with both hands.

Lennox's knockout of Frans Botha. Admittedly against an inferior fighter, but the combination was punch perfect. Every punch landing flush and Botha ending up falling through the ropes.
Classic.

Mike Armstrong threw punches in his sleep after being KO'ed , I think in a Commonwealth title tilt.

YEAH IT WAS AWESOME, PRECISION PERFECT!
Pacman knocking Lucero was a good one, doing a zab as I recall which wasnt bad neither when Kostya splayed him all over the ring like a drunk wandering around.
Also remember watchin ted bami last year that was mad, poor old ted still thought it was a headbut half an hour after the fight he got hit so hard.

For 'chilling preciseness' value it has to be Don Curry v Milton McCrory. The Lonestar Cobra effortlessly steps inside a lazy McCrory jab and unleashes a perfect left hook to Milton's jaw, unravelling him and sending him crashing to the canvas like a puppet who's just had his strings cut. Then, as soon as Mills Lane has waved the fight on, Curry just walks into the stunned Kronkite and 'BLAM!!!' detonates a monster right hand on an already out of it Milt the Stilt, rendering him even more glassy-eyed and spreadeagled on the canvas. Curry in top form was superb to watch, a real craftsman.
For sheer 'oouuuch' value, has to be Tyson v Pinklon Thomas. Tyson, like Curry, counters a lazy Pinky jab with a hook that starts the final fusilade. Then, with Thomas staggered, Tyson just launches a salvo of hooks and uppercuts before a final three-punch (or is it four... or six?) combination sends Thomas slumping towards the canvas. You almost feel every punch. Tyson at his best, a maelstrom of mayhem obliterating anything that gets in his way.
For 'goodnight sweetheart' value it has to be Julian Jackson, bombing an overconfident Herol with a hellacious right hook. That punch was so damned perfectly timed and correctly delivered I'm sure Graham was in dreamland before the punch even landed. They way poor bombed out Bomber was lying there, eyes shut, sucking in and puffing out air, his chest heaving, was not nice at all.

I guess Tyson's KO of Berbick was an awesome way to announce your intentions at world title level.
Although not a stunning single punch KO what he did to man many years his senior and far more experienced was chilling and set a precedent of what was to come for most of the other world rated Heavyweights of the time.

Mike Weavers final round KO of Big John Tate always sticks in my mind, proves once again it aint over till it's over.
Henry Coopers KO of Joe Erskine was a cracker to, the way Joe was drapped over the bottom rope bizzare.
Nigel Benn's ccme from the brink KO over Anthony Logan was a cracker to.
