Casamayor-Corrales

What do you all think? The first fight was one of the fights of 2003...

I fancy Casamayor to do Corrales over more comfortably this time. Last time out I felt Casamayor had Diego's number quite easily but kept getting drawn in to a slugfest in an effort to finish matters in an impressive manner. I would imagine the Cuban wil stick to a more disciplined gameplan this time out and either win a win points decision or force a mide to late rounds stoppage.

I think corrales will win this although I appear to be in a small minority :)

I don't really know why, I just think he will do it.[/quote]

I'm going for Casamayor.
He really should have finished in a much more convincing style as by the end Corrales we certainly turning the fight. MAybe he thought Corrales was more 'gone' than he was.
I say Casamayor finds Corrales's chin no probs like he did last time, and win a stoppage in the later rounds. (7-9), with Corrales having visited the canvas a few times.

This is still a 50/50 fight no doubt about it. I watched the first one again last night and I'm in no doubt that the legs of Casamayor are not what they were. Sure he can still move very well but the physical presence of Corrales is always going to bear down on him, Diego is by far the strongest fighter he's had to go in against.

People seem to think all Casamayor has to do to win is be smart and not take chances but I disagree. Unless those legs can keep dancing at that rapid rate for 12 rounds then Joel must risk hurling that hard left cross at Corrales, leaving himself vulnerable in the process.

I wouldn't blame anyone for picking Corrales in this one. It was he who landed the last significant punches in the first fight. If anything Casamayor looked relieved it was over.

I have gone for Corrales in the league and have no doubt he would have won the first had it continued....

totally agree, the only times when Casamayor was a danger to him was when he got ahead of himself and went for the killer blow, before that he was making Corrales look like a fool.

Agreed, as pointed out in the first fight, diego, for all his power, was being made to look almost amatueurish.

Here i disagree, i think the class difference will be so wide, that a later rounds stoppage is Inevitable.

I'm going for the Cuban too, but it could be another tough one for him.
Corrales was on top at the end of the last one, having just rattled Casamayor badly......should be another great fight.

I love Corrales' personality, but Casamayor is a classy Cuban southpaw - a very hard fighter to beat.

Casamayor is an underrated fighter, it's a shame it comes to this stage of his career when he is getting the bigger fights he deserves. A classy Boxer Casamayor also has a decent dig and add that to Corrales's chin wear and questionable punch resistance at SF i pick Casamayor. If he boxes and moves then he wins easily, as in the first fight only when he got macho and traded did he give Corrales his chance as Corrales posesses good power. Casamayor lost a debatable decision to Freitas IMO (and remember i am a Freitas fan) and really lost that fight as much as Freitas won it with a lack of workrate in the final thirds of the fight to push the decision close. Casamayor wins this one for me on points but there will be knockdowns i would suspect along the way.
