I was thinking about Tyson's team against Douglas in 1990 when they had a latex glove filled with water to try and help reduce the swelling on his eye (Obviously a major balls up).

Are there any other notable instances where cornermen have made major errors that you could share?

I saw a fight from May the other day on Premier Sports...Karim Mayfield v Raymond Serrano. Good match up on paper - 16-0 and 18-0 respectively, but Mayfield gave him a beating. Serrano was in really bad shape at the end of one of the rounds - to the extent that he was almost stopped - and the idiots in his corner didn't have a stool! Took ages...I'm not even sure it came in at all. They were stood up arguing between themselves. Disgraceful and I felt really sorry for the lad.

Sergio Vs Pavlik. Pavlik got cut and and is cutsman was absolutly clueless. Think it was a mate or something. Anyway, the way his corner were unable to do anthing with the cut may have cost Pavlik the title. He was ahead after 8 rounds, got cut and then lost the last 4 rounds.

I think Jack Leow eventually started doing the cuts in that fight for Pavlik. But at the start of the last few rounds Pavlik would come out with his face streaming with blood.

McCellenen vs. Benn is an obvious one, McClellenen had to do his own hand wraps prior to the fight according the the documentary, the corner proved equally clueless on the night

Lol it was funny when the great Gil Clancy back in the corner after years out took a big lump of vaseline and accidentally pushed it in Gerry Cooneys eye and said "shit" on live tv, in the Foreman match!

Gerry had just wobbled George and Gil was complimenting him when it happened. Gerry than went out and got kayoed the next round!

Klitshcko vs Lewis springs to mind.

The best one for me was at the Hatton show when Malinagi's plat extentions came undone against the african fighter, no matter what the corner tried, his hair was all over his face and he was getting hit because he could not see, the problem caused him to lose his rythmn and composure, I mean what corner could be prepared for that ?

I think you're referring to Dom but that is equally funny.
All he did was get angry that the iced water was running out.
The venue was roasting that night and they used up more than expected.
Hardly crime of the century stuff.

I remember seeing Lennox Lewis's fight for the European title against a Frenchman, Lewis cut the champ, and when he got back to his corner all they did was give it a rub with the towel.

There has been a few, but one that springs to mind was Herbie Hide vs Mindaugas Kulikauskas. Herbie got cut badly, and some big skinhead bloke who had no idea what to do, and was wiping the blood away with what looked like a bath towel.

I saw this fight on Espn. I think the dad and another guy in the corner were arguing over to stop the fight or not

I thought the g man always done his own hands before a fight and it was only because people had not seen this sort of thing that they made a fuss about it

In all honesty you could have had the best cut man in the business and it wouldn't have made a difference. I think apart from Vitor Belfort vs Marvin Eastman (UFC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZWHcERRwjg) I can't think of too many worse single cuts that I'v seen than the one Herbie got that night.

Barrera vs Khan. For such an experienced fighter his corner appeared very unprofessional

Wasn't Linares' cut treat with a towel against DeMarco?
