Both never lost their belts in the ring; moved up to heavyweight. Both had a bit of success at heavy; Cole had a draw with Johnson, whereas Gomez got to fight for a title and was dominated by Vitali. I think Cole fought the slightly better competition, though Gomez easily beat those in front of him.
