After Burns great victory last night who does everybody reckon will be next for Burns? Burns said he want to fight for the ring belt and unify but Frank didnt sound too keen saying Burns will be out in December.

Firstly looking at the other 3 belt holders none of them will be available for December:

IBF champ Miguel Vazquez is fighting Marvin Quintero on 27/10/2012

WBC champ is fighting Antonio DeMarco is fighting Adrian Broner on 17/10/20112

WBA is vacant but it is being contested by Richard Abril vs Sharif Bogere on the 03/11/2012

So none of them will be available for a December fight

Going by Boxrec the remaining fighters from the Top 10 are

Nihito Arakawa
Gavin Rees
Raymundo Beltran
Henry Lundy
Ammeth Diaz

None of them really excite me too much, If i had to choose i would pick Henry Lundy just for Burns to try and get a bit of US exposure and hopefully build to a fight with one of the other champs in early 2013.

I'm not to hopeful for this though i think Frank will probably bring in someone from the WBO top 15 then have the Harrison fight after that. Like many others i think Ricky may have to leave Frank if he wants the massive fights he deserves.

Harrison said he wanted the winner in December, Frank said afterwards Ricky will be fighting in December, I have a horrible feeling that this will be a possibility.

However on checking the WBO rankings perhaps many of us did not know (I certainly did not) that Liam Walsh has slipped into the top fifteen somewhat unnoticed.

Noticed Liam did not fight on the Norfolk show the other week (May be other reasons) but I am going out on a limb and saying Burns/Walsh in December.

Walsh is a well known entity to Scottish fans with the Appleby fight, lots of fans would buy tickets from Norfolk so its a guaranteed sell out for Franks Chrissie show.

Burns fighting Scott Harrison would be a joke. With his WBO belt, bad opponents and stay at home defences he's fast becoming the new Joe Calzaghe. Can he not fight a world class opponent next so we can actually see if he's world class?

They should maybe look at taking Burns overseas possibly America to make a defence. I agree no more domestic fighters he needs to concentrate on targeting much better opposition.

Frank needs to forget Harrison fighting Burns, because I really don't think Harrison would be up to it and I can't see Harrison even getting in to a position to be worthy of a title shot. I think Ricky will have a nice easy outing in December, then fight one of the other title holders next year. Personally, I think he'll beat Vasquez, by which point, Broner would probably have unified by beating DeMarco. Now that would leave a cracking Ring Magazine fight between Burns and Broner, Las Vegas all the way!

On the other hand, I think Ricky could be a 4 weight World Champ.

That's a bit strong at this stage. He's had a couple of very good wins to get himself into the position to fight the very best and also leaves no domestic questions unanswered. Harrison etc next would be a joke but he has to fight a very top opponent by next summer.

For the moment, I'm happy to let him have his glory as he was the underdog twice against martinez and katsidis and many sore this as a tough match. He would enter a fight against any of the other champs at no more than evs

Scott Harrison to fight Martin Lindsay would be good then if he beat Lindsay then let him fight Burns :) Styles make Fights and for sure Burns and Harrison would sell many tickets ;) I really believe one more defence for Burns then Broner could be a possibility... I know for sure Ricky would duck no one so Broner will happen soon ;)

Thinking about it I just can't see Warren pitching Harrison in yet, its still a really hard sell perhaps not to fans in Scotland, It would sell out I agree but the angle for the fans of the game and the scribes would be a non starter at this stage. Plus Harrison has to get ranked in the top 15 for the fight and they dont issue there next rankings until Jan or thereabouts I think.

Great performance yesterday. His last 3 opponents have been excellent. I would like to see him continue in this vein and face a genuine contender. Considering all the all other champions are booked, for now someone like a Lundy, Rees, Litzau, Ji Hoon Kim or even Lenny Zappigna would be fine by me. Following that chase the other belt holders: I don't think it would cost too much to get Vasquez or Abril over. Demarco/Broner is different; Ricky might have to go stateside for that one. I really hope it's not Walsh or Harrison... those two against each other is a decent match up mind.

It was reported today he'll be fighting again in December. Good to see top fighters remaining active.

I can't imagine Adrian Broner ever being brave enough to fight him in Scotland, even though it would draw a huge crowd there (while "The Problem" can't draw flies in the USA).

broner is a bit of a wild card. he has the style but if he makes the weight can he be that good for 12 rds? and if eh doesn't make the weight what will happen to the status of the fight? he and brandon rios deserve each other.

after surprising everyone, stopping mitchell like that, can burns fight any more british fighters? even in this fiercely competitive division? scott harrison doesn't sound a great idea.

burns is 29, seems to have a lot ahead of him. if he continues to defend his championship vs top 10 opponents (such as moses, mitchell, and katsidis) i can't complain. personally wouldn't mind seeing rees get a shot given what he's done at 135 to 140, from prize fighter through doemstic & european level to a brief stint as world champ.

Gavin Rees is the only domestic guy for the job at the moment, Harrison has way to much to prove yet.

Agreed domestically it can only be Rees in my opinion. Would be a really good fight I reckon. I really like Burns but I probably would have picked Rees in this fight although I haven't got round to seeing the fight from the weekend and from what I'm reading that sounds like it would change my opinion.

I didn't fancy Rees to beat Burns before the weekend and I certainly don't now. He'll do okay early but doesn't have the workrate to live with Burns and couple that with his lack of size (although he'll take far less right hands than Mitchell did) and lack of a massive punch, I'm not sure how he wins. Once he slows during the midway point, Burns will be all over him and I think could force another stoppage. Think of how far away he was from beating a bigger, technically sound fighter with decent straight shots in Kotelnik.

Bring it though, would be a good one to watch

I hope it is a decent opponent for Burns but Warren has put him in with some bad fighters.

It's nice to read so many good things about Burns, he's really turned some people around us a humble fellow.

Abril will stand Bogere on his head, but then he did that to Rios and didn't get the nod so doesn't mean he'll get the win.

Abril / Burns would not sell anywhere, a good fight but in all likelyhood a dull one. Bogere has no name, also a hard sell.

Like it or not Harrison/Burns will sell. A strong governing body would stop this from happening but they don't exist. If the fight is made Burns, Harrison or Warren can't be blamed. The fight will do well, all will make decent money and no one is taking huge risks. The WBO should however get canned, whatever difference that would make!

De Marco would be a superb fight, but I reckon Burns will get paid more over here in front of his own that he would do as part of a four fight HBO/Showtime show in Vegas. It'll be Rees or Harrison over here. If Broner does De Marco no one will want him unless they are suitably compensated. Vazquez would be good but can't see either man selling in the others back yard
