didnt he know to get on his bike with only seconds to go .
Im not digging him out i thought he fought well and the way he conducted himself afterwards was as decent a display of sportsmanship as you will ever see.I was just left screaming at the telly get moving Kevin or hold and he just tucked in and covered up.Burns clearly punches harder than it looks hats off to him jumped on him and finished the job excellently. You would assume its a fundamental part of training and we are not talking about an inexperienced team. Was just gutted for Kevin Mitchell who's style and gameness mixed with a flawed likeable character is great to watch .

It's not the end for Mitchell, plenty of fights out there for him. He has to look at the manner of the defeat and rethink his route. I don't believe that Mitchell thought Ricky could hurt him too much, I know he said otherwise, but after that even first round I think Mitchell decided he had to take the initiative. There is no doubt for me that Mitchell's game plan went to pot, desperation and sense of occasion, title dreams and pride took over.
Mitchell is limited with Allegedly now. He needs to go elsewhere, because the fights he needs won't happen with the current promotion rivalries. The ability is there in Mitchell, he just needs fights picked for him for a while, get a bit busier and not go gung go. Prescott and Murray fights were how Mitchell should be fighting.

I agree, for me it's a mental battle now, he needs 3 or 4 weeks off, then back to the gym, maybe a trip to America, he needs to sharpen his defense and learn some tricks once hurt !
I really hope he learns from this, he still has time.

He's obviously shot. The guy needs to retire and not take anymore punches. To go from taking big whacks off Johanssen and Prescott to falling apart quickly against a guy with 9 stoppages in 36 fights is an alarming decline.

Good points. From experience, even taking a blow and not getting knocked down, sometimes you really don't know where the fck you are for a few seconds. Plus, you don't always hear the clap for 10 secs, he probably didn't know how long was left.
Big Wlad's good at the hug and throw survival because he's been in Kev's position. Kevin has rarely experienced that (kust once I believe)

I think Mitchell let his emotions take control during the fight, he seemed to want to out macho Burns and lost energy through it, he's taken bigger punches in his career than the left that floored him, but once up he again wanted to fight his way out instead of grabbing etc to see the round out.

billys totally right, sometimes you just have not got a clue where you are or what has happened, he would have held or styled it out if he could but he couldnt, he was gone, after i got stopped against miles i didnt realise i had been down till ryan rhodes told me in the dressing room, i was saying the ref jumped in too quick and i was fine to carry on, mitchell probably didnt know what had happened till he watched it back, and people saying his chin has gone thats rubbish, he got nailed by a big shot but was back on his feet after 6, and trust me burns can whack, i told everybody burns could bang after id sparred with him, his record says he cant but he really can

Ricky is really heavy handed. He's not a out and out destroyer but his right hand in particular is a dangerous shot. Every fight I've seen him in he troubles his opponent then they are happy to let him get on his bike knowing if they chase to hard their walking on to something.

I just watched the post fight presser both boxers really showed class i hope Kevin isnt shot i think british boxing is better with him in it.
Might be a good shout for him to leave Fwank though be a good addition to Hennesy's or Matchroom's stables.

He dispatched a more confident Murray much sooner than Rios did... he still has world level potential if active/on form/head in the right place

The old timers allway's said .if you get hit on the button,it dont matter who you are,you go over.so don't get hit on the button lol.
Kevin to me ,was naturally a fit kid who out of training allway's looked fit & was.now he has got stocky & looks soft & should of stayed at 9-4 IMO.
Burns done the biz on him.

Not sure if Hennesy would be right for mitchell as he tends to match more agressively than some do , not what mitchell needs right now imo

What gear do you smoke? How can you claim someone is 'shot' and needs to retire after losing 'a fight' .....And against a quality fighter. I suppose you would have said the same when Mitchell was beat by Katsidis yet would have had egg on your face when he beat Murray. Did Mitchell look 'shot' v Murray? No. Would you have said Mitchell was shot after the Katsidis fight? ...Getting my point? If a fighter is losing regular or gets easy beat by someone not up at the same 'level' then the question called be asked if they are 'shot'. Dont also be fooled by the number of inside the distance wins on a record to determine if they puch hard or not. And of course power can develope. I think you are taking a lot of credit away from Burns as we'll as Mitchell. Did anyone say Nigel Benn was 'shot' after Michael Watson TKO'd him? Benn went on to win big fights against big punchers

For me Kevin still has a decent career ahead of him and he is far from shot. The one thing I don't understand is how people keep raving on an it the Murray fight. Did anyone actually watch the same fight that I did??? You know the one where mitchells game plan was to have a war with Murray but after about 30 seconds realize that wasn't a good idea then basically go running for the rest of the fight until the inevitable happend against Murray which was that in his last few f;ghts he was showing less and less movement and over training was becoming more and more evident. For me it was just a matter of tike before someone lasted more than 5 rounds with Murray and stopped him.
Great result for Kevin but far from a great performance

Murray is a clubfighter who eats punches. Mitchell beating him proved very little. To take shots from Prescott and Johanssen and then fall apart like that shows a clear and definite decline in punch resistance. A lot of you seem to be in denial.

rumour is he's been caught before for [snipped]

Mitchell has to see if he can make Super Feather again. I've never been convinced he is a fully fledged Lightweight.
I think Burns' power has more to do with the move up in weight than any other improvements. Burns has got some real snap now - as evident with how much he had to make someone as tough as Katsidis think before coming in.

its well known katsidis was not performing, before he stepped into the ropes with burns, he's brother had just died R.I.P and had 2 losss before burns, did burns stop him with this natural power you talk about
