For those that might not recognize the name, this post is referring to Joey Torres, a former amateur fighter who was released for two years after having served 23 years in prison for murder.
He had one pro fight v. Perry Williams that got a lot of attention due to suspicions that it was fixed. The CSAC suspended both fighters.
Anyway, the prosecutor investigated and exposed Torres's self-defense story as bullshit. Torres was ordered to return to prison, but he fled to Mexico and then surrendered.
He got a lot of celebrity support, including from Bob Arum, who gave him a pro fight. Then Torres turned on Arum and tried to cut a deal with the government. Arum's office was raided, nothing came of it, and Torres's ass went back to prison where it belongs and should stay.
