Former two time WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide will face Brazilian Rogerio Lobo in an eight rounder at the Nottingham Ice Arena this Friday (March 12).
The 33 year-old from Sao Paulo boasts 32 wins from 41 starts, with an impressive 27 by the short route. Most of those wins though were down at cruiserweight and against journeymen. Lobo has lost four of his last six fighting including first round blast outs to former WBO heavyweight champion Michael Moorer and useful American Kelvin Davis.

Has the guy even fought at heavyweight. Herbie just needs a fight tho. He cant go into a fight with Williams having not fought in 5odd months.

Interesting match up. Let's hope he doesn't get too close to Herbie's chin!

Hide will then spend 10 mins talking about what he will do to Danny Williams and then calling out Audley or Sprott.

What's all this i hear about Hide fighting Williams for the European Union belt or some similar useless item? Is it rumours, i read it a while ago that they were next to fight for it in the ratings. It was in the Sport so it must be true

No, it's true. Promoter Jess Harding will stage the fight before the end of April in either London or Norwich. The vacant EU title is on the line but that's just to please TV. Every televised fight needs a title of some sort on the line nowadays.

warm up for herbie has he hasnt done anything for oooooh 6 or seven years, then in with Williams, whom i hope disconnect's herbie's fat ugly head from his shoulders.

I hear you on that one Bennie, it's to attract the none Boxing viewers i suppose as much as anything. I mean Fred from down my street could win himself the IAB belt and call himself a "World" champ or whatever these days!

Check out this man's record in detail. He is really not good enough to be stepping in the ring with a former WBO heavyweight champ (not even for sparring).

It's just a tune up Flawed Genius so let's hope Hide doesn't get sparked or anything before the mouth watering clash with Williams, you never know with Herbie!

I'll be really surprised to see Hide actualy get in the ring with Williams. I mean he's avoided it for so long, why change now?

More likely he'll go another route. Maybe even jet off to the USA again, knock out a few more stiffs and get himself a shot at the IBF title.
He just has to look at Golota for proof on how this can work.

Its interesting as the guy can oviously punch a bit judging by his record. While I doubt he has much ring craft I don't think Mr Chinganggoolagong was expected to do much either.

However, as Steve689 says it is only a warm up match after all.

This guy fought for the Brazilian cruiserweight title in January! Every time he's stepped up to heavyweight - or in class - he's been chinned. I don't know why they're even bothering with the air fare. Why don't they match him with a durable British heavyweight instead?

Perhaps Herbie needs a confidence boost!

It does seem a bit pointless. We've seen what Herbie does to guys smaller than himself and it's not a pretty sight.

At least now we know for sure that nothing is going to get in the way of the Williams fight though.

I wanna see Herbie beat Williams politics stand between a Harrison v Williams fight but they dont with a Hide v Harrison fight and I think the 2 will wanna make this fight should Hide beat Williams.

It's all well and good saying it's a tune-up/preparation fight, but it's the equivalent of having a wank to prepare yourself for a date with a half decent looking woman.

I cant see hide beating Danny unless he were to catch Danny very early on, Hide hasnt fought anyone of note for years and is trying to make his comeback off the back of a suddenly weakened world h/weight division and increased domestic activity. (Golota is doing this re world terms also)
To be totally honest I wish he would just get sparked and clear off for good probably to a mental institution for the safety of society.

NO NOT ME!

This was a golden opportunity to allow Hide to get some much-needed rounds in before the big Williams fight. He's boxed only six rounds since last May.
But if Duran is Duran, Lobo is naff. It won't even go two rounds.

Yeah we heard he was fighting a Brazilian we all hoped for Arias, Zolyone or de Silva, one of those guys would have extended Hide.
