Interesting ring entrance for a 12 fight "novice" - hope mark chins him now.

He's doing really well, looks good at the minute does Thompson. Loved the way he switched as soon as Kulcay did and then back again with him.
Never seen Thompson fight before.

shocking stoppage. wasn't even wobbled, and he was winning the fight.

Is it normal for the ref to take a fighter's gum shield out like that?

Mentioned this the other week, the German crowd are very fair and good on them! They want the best fights in their country, but the officials don't make it easy for them, no fornicator will fight their eventually!
Loved the booing, but fair play, the kid went for it.

Gutted for mark, he got the nod against horta a few years ago at home, but mark was well in the fight, well in it. Can mark make 147 still?

Not unless they are knocked clean out! I watched some German show months back and the ref gave a standing count, bizarre. The fans don't like it, so why they carry on in this manner is beyond me? Maybe it's some European over-cautious thing?

In the middle highlight flurry he throws 12 lands 2 (i think) then theres one uppercut and ref jumps in. The first punch of the highlights was the best. Also worth noting that was the first time in the fight mark was under any pressure and was ahead on my card - dont know about judges cards

Those are just highlights; most of the punches were edited out and Thompson had been in trouble for a while when the referee stepped in.

You said on other thread 20+ power shots landed - no chance

Those are just highlights, yet you still counted 12 punches.

No I didn't upload the video, and I agree that it was an early stoppage. I said that Culcay threw 20+ powershots; that some of them didn't land is irrelevant to my claim.

Fight. Scores at time of stoppage are listed as 39-37 and 38-37 for Culcay, and 38-38.

Early stoppage, simple as that. MT might not have won that fight in the end but to be robbed of the opportunity to do so will leave a sour taste in his mouth for years to come. Nobody wants to see any1 hurt but at the end of the day if refs cant distinguish between a) heavy shots been thrown and landed and b)The effect (or non-effect in this case) a heavy looking landed shot has on a kid under pressure ie, the last uppercut then start umpiring cricket or sumat. Nobody wants to see fighters stretchered out of the ring but MT's eyes were clear and his legs were steady, these are kids careers FFS

I could half tolerate it if Thompson had been dug up from some Latvian cemetary and was lookikg for the floor b4 the 1st bell but the guy really came for the win

If it happened the other way round and Thompson was the home fighter in England the fight would off been stopped

No one can really moan then!? Home advantage etc etc, (I've not see the bout yet but have seen dodgy and quick stoppages before, here and abroad).

I think it's a premature stoppage, but it annoys me when people go on about getting robbed in Germany when it happens in England just as much

Thompson is a good lad and probably knew the deck was stacked when he went over; he's an experienced pro and a grown man. This 'gamble' backfired but he's still a good, game and well conditioned boxer. I doubt this set back will do him real harm; he'll be in a decent place to put a domestic challenge in; he'd not be shown up by anyone and some of the match ups would be really good for the fans.

You think so? Im not 100% sure. The one thing i will say is many thought mark got lucky against horta, i was there that night and horta certainarly thought so as he stprmed out the ring shouting... Guess sometimes things even themselves out over the course of a career.
I would say mark has thrown himself right back in the british mix, even in defeat. Can he make 147 does anyone know?

More than ten misses, and it is relevant because only two full shots landed out of the many put out so the stoppage was badly timed. The ref was looking for a time to jump in from the moment the first punch landed. It was poor officiating.
I stated that Culcay threw a certain number of power punches, not that he landed a certain number of them. So, no, it's not relevant to that claim.
