Today Maravilla Box promotions has won the bid for the superbantam EBU titile between Kiko Martinez and Carl Frampton. The fight will be in Spain in a date and veneu to determinate. "Good luck" for the irishman...

How much was the bid?

Winning bid was 62,000 EUR apparently.

Can't see the fight happening. If Eddie wanted to win it, they would have beaten the bid. Frampton beat a better opponent in Molitor and its hard to see them fighting Kiko after that win.

Do know who wouldn't shock me at all for Frampton's next fight: Richardo Cordoba. Wouldn't be too hard to promote in Ireland given Dunne beat him for the World title in 09.

I disagree I think Kiko is a more live opponent than Molitor.

Clearly there's something better in the pipeline.

It does seem that way. But if he's deliberately bidded low because he doesn't want the fight that means this fight is going to be off for about the 4th time.

Frampton doesn't need the EBU or British titles. 5 more fights and I think he'll be mandatory for all 4 world titles.

Probably doesn't need them but would he turn down the chance to face Quigg or Munroe. Doubt that considering he has been calling them out.

I think they'd settle for one mandatory position. Has anyone ever been mandatory for 3 or 4 of the titles at once?

Hope he does fight the winner of Quigg/Munroe he would beat both of them I think. Its a sad day though when you have to check what tv channel they are on before thinking about the chances of the fight happening!

So you can say that Frampton don't needs to fight Kiko, i don't think so, with his new promoter and new trainer (Pablo Sarmiento the same as Maravilla and coach of the year,) Kiko will be fighting soon in the USA, with opponents that Eddie AKA "bring me a bum" Hearn will never bring Frampton to the UK. Matchroom know that Frampton is going to be very marketable in Britain, Belfast, Ireland and even with the Irish folks on the East Coast of America. Spain's economy is in real bad shape at the minute, makes no sense for Frampton to fight there, Martinez's team will know the money will be fighting in Belfast or Britain, hence why their own bid was so low.

I just think Frampton is head and shoulders above Quigg and Munroe in terms of talent. The winner of Quigg and Munroe is going to have to ask themselves if a Frampton fight is worth the risk at this point. These 'Battles of Britain' make for a good payday, but one fighter is going to be left earning a crust domestically or at European level, whilst the other goes on to challenge for world honours.

Same with Price vs Fury, the fight makes sense when it is a World title fight or an eliminator. Look at the likes of Matty Hatton, John Murray, James DeGale, Mitchell etc... All have lost these types of fights and you have to wonder what is next for them, promotionally or title wise.

I don't see that Frampton is head and shoulders above Quigg and Munroe. I fancy the both of them would also have beaten Molitor with ease. Your right in saying that one of them will be left behind at domestic level.
