There is talk that Chris Eubank jr is being matched up with Former British champion Paul Smith, seems very early to me, but he as been matched hard in the past, Paul Smith can punch very hard and Eubank jr likes to get involved, this fight could either end Paul Smith's career or burst the bubble of Chris Eubank jr, In my opinion I think Smith might be a bit early for Eubank jr.

If Eubank jnr loses to Paul Smith in this one there will be high short term damage to his reputation as a prospect but when you take into account he is still only 22 there will still be alot of time for him to rebuild and for Smith should he lose he will end up having to kiss goodbye to any aspirations of having another crack at a British or Commonwealth title.

I'd be surprised if this one happened yet. Aren't there some "promotional issues" that might scupper this?

Wouldn't put it past them.

I don't think Smith is high on Warrens list now, so off loading him on to a Hennessy show would not be a problem, after all they are working with each other on the Witter/Gavin fight, the other thing to consider is that Eubank sr would put his son in with anyone, also there has been agro between Eubank jr and Degale, so he could be looking to prove a point to Degale by beating Smith at an earlier stage then Degale did, in order to get a future fight with Degale.

I don't see this one happening, personally. Would Smith really agree to a 6 or 8 round fight? Or would Eubank Jr agree to one longer than that? Also, would Smith take a fight with just over a weeks notice?
Much more likely to be a journeyman that the Eubank team think will show him a real test.

Sounds like another good reason it isn't happening.

Lets be honest here. This fight was never going to happen this early in Chris career.

And neither should it. Chris is a number of fights away from such a step up and a famous father shouldn't result in him being pushed too hard too fast.

When you think he is ready for a crack for an English/British titles then.

"on the cards" as in "being predicted by a Tarot reader"?

Tyson Fury fighting Chambers isn't even that legit.

It's better than endlessly droning on about Pac vs Floyd, mind.

A lot of fights happen because, because things are uttered from some boxers camps, that are either or instigate interest, I prefare that to nothing going on and yes it is better then the stupid saga of the 2 best fighters that can't agree to fight each other, despite the public wanting it and the massive financial reward for putting it on, it will end up like when Calzaghi fought Roy Jones jr, both well past their best.

Not all fighters are going to do a Magri, especially without a good unpaid career. Fury did English in his 8th fight and British in his 15th. De Gale took the British in his 9th. I don't think that Eubank Jnr would be doing badly to wait at least until that kind of stage.

Still think he's a good one or two fights off English title level if you ask me, maybe British in his 10th or 11th - thats still very good imo.
