really? it was no title bout, why should they
have done it again immediately and finally
it was three years, right? louis had just
matured to full swing prime GOAT ... that
made the 2nd look like a mismatch IMO ...

How about Lewis/McCall II? Maybe Oliver would've been saner in 95.

Well, he didn't break down in any of his bouts in 95. Maybe Lewis caused the breakdown, though.

Leonard/Hearns 2 was an awesome fight. It just came too late for hearns to get the proper respect for the win I think he would have gotten at any time.

I agree but give him the respect anyway.
It looked like Hearns was finished before this fight. His punch resistance appeared to be gone. I thought he had no chance. As did Ray else he’d never have signed for it.

Yup, but much like Holyfield/Tyson the irrational lovers of those fighters have completely flipped the script. Ray & Mike were shot and Tommy and Evander went into those fights on a roll.
As soon as Tommy pointed his arm at Leonard during his introduction I knew he was going to dig into his ass.

I kept thinking of Andries and Roldan… Fighters who were both pole-axed by Tommy but who hurt him with single haymakers.
I am naturally pessimistic and have zero faith in anything.

Totally agree though…
In both fights you mention I thought Tyson and Leonard were going to cruise past guys who were essentially finished.
I had already resigned myself to the fact that nobody would give credence to the fact that Holy and Tommy were ready for the knackers yard.

I had money on Holyfield. I must admit to being wary of Hearns after the Kinchen fight. My confidence grew on fight day with every beer.

I think…or seem to remember Boxbuzz made money on Holy too.
Boxbuzz?
Hats off anyway, I didn’t think Holyfield stood a chance. No way was a naturally smaller guy, way past his best…recently stopped by Bowe stand a chance…

I picked him to beat Tyson long before he was even a Heavyweight. No way I was backing down then. I got a call from a dude that I used to argue with about it in High School after the fight. My roommate and I got a keg and only let two other Evander fans watch it with us. People were showing up and banging on our door because we always had the fights and we wouldn't let them in.
