Fat Gripz

Anyone tried these? Any good? Am thinking of getting a pair. They are meant to recruit more fibres when lifting.

Mate, one word: AWESOME.
Not only FGz give you great forearm workout but they're also supposed to increase neural drive to all trained muscles. Especially useful in all pulling movements and reverse/neutral grip exercises.
Thick grip training is one of the very few inventions/modifications you can find in fitness industry that is not just another gimmick. Also, when you consider how expensive/hard to find in any gym is fixed thick grip equipment (DBs, BBs), the price you pay for FatGripz is actually nothing.
Btw, do you know that the new version is out? FatGripz Extreme - bright orange in colour and even fatter :P

Tried these over the weekend. Used them for a shoulder session on Friday, and back and biceps on Saturday. They definitely add a new dimension to lifting, and would recommend them to anyone. The arms get a great workout - my forearms are still tender today!
My only problem was that I normally do mainly bodyweight exercises for my back, however I couldn't do a single (normal) pull-up using the Fat Gripz. hopefully this will change as I get used to them and my grip strength improves.

Know what you mean man. I only recently dared to start using them for pull ups, only to discover I could do 1/5 of what I'd do with normal grip
My tip: start with close neutral (palm facing each other) grip. It's the easiest one, at least in my case. Build up from here.
Also I thing that you'll reap most benefits from exercises where grip is challenged. So if curls then reverse and hammer, if extensions then reverse, if something for shoulders then lateral raises should be OK. Pulls are all good.

I did a few sets with my feet elevated, and body parallel to the floor. Managed about 5 reps like this and then finished off gripping the bar when my grip failed. Will try a few variations and see if I can improve.

I really like doing reverse grip curls where you start the set with fat gripz and once failed, continue without rest with standard grip and the same weight. It's a perfect strip as you can squeeze quite a few extra reps but not too many, and muscle recruitment changes interestingly. Lying reverse grip skull crushers should work equally good. Just mind the head :P

I've been doing something similar with various pull-ups & chin-ups. I start using the fat-gripz, and then when my grip fails go staright into normal bar pull ups, and then when my grip fails again, I put on the wrist straps to knock out the last few reps.
I managed my first full rep using the grips for wide grip pull ups at the weekend, which is progress - albeit very slow. I've noticed the number of reps for other pull up / chin up exercises have also increased slightly, so my grip strength is obviously improving.
Haven't tried them for skull crushers yet - will give it a go this week.

Cool, congrats on progress. With FG skulls remember: reverse grip - palms facing towards you.

I've only used the blues, and they're tough enough

Good stuff!!!
Will give the orange ones a miss for now, until I've progressed a bit further with the blue ones. I'm still embarrassing myself with the blue ones!
