What happened to Vyacheslav Uzelkov?
Coyne isn't in their top 15?

Really? Where have you heard this from?
He's not in the WBO top 15. So it won't be a title defence, surely

They had a press conference this morning. It's all on the Bocksnation facebook page.

I'd like to see Ryan Coyne v Roberto Bolonti. That might be competitive.

Good step up by Frank, a cowboy from Missouri. Usualy shoots himself in the foot apparently.

I can remember the Coyne vs Jones scheduled fight - I can remember not many people giving Coyne that much of a chance from the current scene (I aint seen him fight, but assume some from the current scene have).

I'm sure Ryan Coyne will magically jump to #15 when WBO update it's rankings.
Not heard of him either and know nothing about him.

Nobody looked twice at Breidis Prescott's record then BOOM.
Not that I'm suggesting Coyne is anything special, more that these type of last-minute unknown fighters can spring upsets.
Clev knows he is in the 'shop window' and be expected to look amazing - so if he gets drawn into a real battle, he could look poor and thus it will have the opposite effect.
I'd also add that Abner Mares is no headliner in my opinion and the bill will largely be ignored.

This is very true. And having his venue, date and opponent all changed three weeks before he was supposed to be fighting can't help, either. The lad could be decent, who knows?

Listen, Coyne is an unbeaten southpaw who has beaten Dante Craig for christ`s sake!!!!!!
Who do people want him to face? King Kong?
Look at the guys Coyne has beaten - Craig, Vecsei and Fogle!! He even KO`d Johnny Corn in the first round. No mean effort.
This is a tough one for Nathan, however with preparation, God`s will and a sprinkling of luck, I reckon he might get through this one with a first round stoppage.

I don't think Bunny would allow his man to fight on someone else's show, the other side of the Atlantic on a non descript show if there was a great deal of risk.
Love your post Forcefraser.

I think the move was because Coyne was on a Contender show and is familar to a few people stateside.
I hope it works out for nathan, he is an honest fighter and always come across as a nice guy.
Perhaps being constantly linked to bigger names, then fighting unknowns draws him a lot of stick, which isn't really his fault I suppose.
But you've got to be unhappy if you'd bought tickets to his show and then got bumped on them. Let's hope 2013 brings better things because i think this year has not been a very productive one for him in comparison to his sky days.

I expect Ryan to add to his 198 Twitter followers in the run up to the fight.

Don't blame the fighter one bit mate.
The fights are there but someone has to speculate to accumulate.

Ryan Coyne is a strange one. Somehow- he is ranked #2 in the world the WBA, but his last fight was a small hall show in Sheffield against a 6-6 opponent. I've been told by people who usually know what they're on about that he is a good lad who is going places. Obviously, you have to think that the Cleverley management have acted to type, done their homework and this is a low risk exercise- but you never know.

I've seen Coyne fight a couple of times and he looked sluggish and technically limited, though if I remember correctly that was as a less than ripped Cruiser.
If it's a non-title fight I have no problem with it - a decent way to introduce Cleverly to the US market and maybe build towards a Hopkins/Cloud or even Shumenov fight over there in the new year. Coyne is tough enough to give Cleverly rounds, though he's not a proper test.
If it's for the WBO strap then it's a crime, just like the usual crimes all the governing bodies pull though.
Biggest point to take from this? Coyne is not as good a fighter as Uzelkov. Uzelkov was (in the world of four governing bodies that even slightly matter) a decent opponent. He got a slagging on here and plenty other places . Now look what you've got.
What a couple of months we've got too look forward to. Cleverly, Bellew, Froch and Khan all facing poor opposition, Ree's mooted title shots seemingly down the pan, Anderson being fed an ancient Ried, Purdy being fed to Jones and another eagerly awaited Prizefighter stuffed down our filth filled craws! If no one is showing Donaire vs Nishioka I'm going to shed a wee tear. Still at least A-Force is back.................
