WA State Branch existed yonks ago, but it died off due to lack of promotions. At the time Laurie Flanders was Secretary
Brad Vocale mentioned to me his intent to do this 5+ years ago, but did SFA about it. Be interesting to see if he's included .

Yes Anton your correct. Me and another official ( Howie Fitzmaurice) have been in contact with the ANBF in regards to getting an ANBF branch happening here in WA. We have the support of all local officials we have contacted, also promoters and trainers. We have contacted our local commission also. They will still retain control but are happy to have us work along side them.
We have a fair bit of work in front of us but think it will only benefit the sport in this state. I personally think it is long overdue.

Craig, I hope your well mate, just for your information, The ANBF is not in control in any state of this country except Qld where they bluff everyone into thinking they are THE Governing body, in all the other states, the State government, control the sport, they do everything, from licencing fighters, and other industry participants, to giving clearances, selecting officials for the events, approving fights, and basically controlling the sport all up.

Don't be fooled by misleading statements from one particular know it all, who tries to get everyone convinced that his mates in Qld and some of the other states, actually have control, cos the real truth is, they do not, Legislation overrides the ANBF in NSW, Victoria, SA and WA, so the ANBF are in effect, simply now a sanctioning body, nothing else.

The ANBF do have the rights to the Australian title, this was tested i believe in the courts back in 1985, but the State Governments control and sanction State title fights, another thing is this, If a State Government was not convinced that a fighter who perhaps had been approved to fight for the National title was good enough, they can and will veto this title, because their rules override the ANBF, so the Australian title fights, are all fought under State Government rules, not ANBF, except here in Qld.

There is a lot more i can tell you, but i am sure you will get the picture, so whenever any of your guys come to Oz to fight, it is the State Government body they need to comply with, not the ANBF.

I think it's a good thing what Ben and Howie are trying to do, but I truly cannot see the rationale in it, because they're simply making a whole heap of work for themselves, but they will have no say in anything other than perhaps trying to convince the national body of sanctioning a National title in WA.

Also i can only see, perhaps a total of maybe 5-6 people joining the branch, hardly worth the effort, for such a small state boxing wise, but i could be wrong and i wish them all the best, theyre hearts and intentions are in the right place.

If I didn't say it 100 times I said it once in this & other forums, ANBF Ltd was Australian title governing body - nothing more, nothing less.
As far as Victorian & South Australian State titles, local ANBF Branch is in charge of them.

South Australia State titles are controlled by the State Government, I confirmed with Tom Hunter just this week, you also should know this, because he sent you an email late last year, telling you in no uncertain terms, that he was Supervisor for the State title on that show, and not our friend Tommy Ferrauto.

If you persist in changing the names around, Tom Hunter, who is the only compliance officer in SA, will send you another letter to confirm, he is not too pleased that you have continued to place Tommy Ferrauto's name in the Inspector's box of the show either.

Tommy is a good bloke, but sadly, he is not a Government inspector, Yes he runs the State Branch, but has nil say regarding the State Government side of things, So i suggest you stick your nose out of their business and leave things as they are.

Wrong Again know it all? gees your a tosser, you seem to know more about how the State Government of SA run the sport over there, than the SA Government does.

Why don't you tell us, just when was the last time you attended a fight in SA? 12-13 years ago, even before they tossed you out, so it must be at least 15 years.

And our mutual friend Tommy, is not a Co-Inspector, there is no such thing, the Compliance officer is Tom Hunter, whether you like or or not, and all your doing is making a goose of yourself again, but that's nothing new

What ever is good for the sport I say. I hope this gets up and going in WA. We have some very passionate, knowledgeable people over here who would have only the sport in mind when putting things together. I am confident there would be many, many peoplewanting to get on board for the right reasons.
