Deagle actually looked decent. We might not like him but for a fighter who has been inactive for so long he fought well against a good fighter

Awful scoring. I thought Degale looked very very average.

Degale looked good in spurts but his opponent was a machine and Chunky obviously goosed early (inactivity).

Still think Degale is a quality fighter.

He puts shots together well but his defence is awful. He should forget about going anywhere near Froch.

And Mick Hennessy is talking some shite...

DeGale looked ragged at times to me, inactivity obviously taking it's toll but he seemed to lack pop in his punches.

He didn't need that after such a lengthy lay off. The kid could of beat him on fitness tonight I was abit worried but degale is tough & takes too many which may catch up with him.
Hennessy couldnt guide a Labrador degale is in deep now!

He takes too many punches. His defence seems poor. Difficult to imagine him winning at world level. And I mean world super six style level, not 'world' WBO comedy level.

From what I've seen, he feeds Degale's ego. McDonnell has been embarrassing in pressers etc. Degale needs someone who can ground him.

He could be very good as an in and out fighter. His speed is really impressive at times. But yeah the old defence aint great and he needs to improve his power at this level if he is going to kick on a level. But considering he has been inactive and has problems outside the ring (with the promotional change) I think we can forgive him that. Also good to see he came across pretty well in the interview and is gonna be active.

His face shows the redness from shots he takes & it was from the outset.degale I think is a real talent & needs the right team around him to achieve

I honestly think he just likes being in a fight, doesn't ming getting hit. My knock on him is he forgets to jab.

yeah I'm not sure either after the early promise DeGales showed his technique seems on the decline to me, it could be the step up in opposition as well though. I thought McDonnell was supposed to be Mr Fitness but DeGale looked like he was struggling with the pace early on.

DeGale is a pretty talented guy but he has no power and I also question his ring generalship. Against Mohoumadi he made it as hard a fight as it could possibly be by allowing a fairly average fighter to rough him up pretty good on the ropes. Maybe the layoff caused him to have stamina problems but with world class fighters he won't get away with laying on the ropes taking shots like he did with Mohoumadi.

I enjoyed the fight. The guy he was fighting was no euro bum, but a really fit and pretty skilled opponent. A guy who's fought once in a year could have done without a guy that was so fit, but Degale will be better for it. It's one thing getting fit, but Degale needs to get "match fit", when he does he'll be top draw. Some of his combination punching, movement and ring generalship were excellent, I just think his match fitness let him down at times, which is understandable

Was really impressed with Degale's speed and skill, although he did take too many shots. I thought the judges scored it too heavily in Degale's favour although the victor was never in doubt.

He seems to have matured a lot since winning the Gold medal which makes him far more likeable in my eyes.

It will be a shame if we never see the frenchman fight again, too often a good losing performance seems to drop them off the radar of our promoters. I know it would be ambitious but I would put Buglioni in there with him I think it would be a good test.

The frenchman was great, tough as nails.

I was impressed with Degale though tonight even though he was scrappy. His combinations were eye catching, very quick good shot selection and I liked the grit he showed.

he did well considering his career issues and long time out of the ring, my only concern is that he seems to lack enough power to take out the better class of opponents.

I thought it was a great fight. Either the French lad is one hard case or Degale does not hit hard enough.

If he can`t keep this guy off him, imagine what a top class operator with a punch could do to Degale.

He needs to get more distance and put more venom into his shots. I can`t believe that one judge gave it to Degale 119- 109. Shocking.

i must agree. the judge who gave degale 11 rounds should be ashamed. he looked good in spurts but looked like the fitness wasnt there with the rope leaning

I think Frenchie gave Degale a good fight and it's likely what he needs right now.

But Degale never holds his feet and is too happy to fall back to the ropes. I don't recall him doing that in his early days - is it since he lost ?

He looked like getting halted against Wilchewzki and scraped through on a MD. He looked no better last night either.

The back-slappers fed his ego and he admits it did. But can't help but think this new PR approach is still contrived and he still thinks he's the goods.

He looked fleshy, lacked authority and his power didn't do much. His face was sore after just 1 round which points to a bad defence.

I think Hennessy won't gift him wins, I think Mick will match him tough myself - it's up to Degale now whether he sinks or swims.

I hope he swims, but have a bad feeling whether he will.
