Bit of a stop-start career really. Always struck me that he was/is really a cruiserweight.

I seen him in his last fight a couple of years back on the McCloskey-Morrison undercard, he was gash.

I always got the impression that Barrett was more of a cruiserweight. Nice enough skills, good mover but a little small to make any impression on the heavyweight scene. He fought Ziausys on that Letterkenny card (I think?) that Hagler mentioned and did look pretty poor.

I was there the night he beat Colin Kenna for the Irish heavyweight title in Dublin. Kenna dropped him heavily with a right hand but Barrett fought back to win on points. A good career win for him and one for the history books.

Mick Hennessy mentioned before Fury fought Firtha that he had approached Barrett about the opportunitybut Coleman wanted two warm up fights first.

I think Fury tried to get him, but his team weren't interested.

They went after him a few times because Fury wanted a shot at the Irish title but I remember Barrett's team put out a press release here saying they wanted to fight Fury. Hennessey for the only time ever actually posted in a thread that wasn't his own saying that Fury didn't have an opponent for his next fight and that if they wanted the fight, to get in contact. Fight didn't happen.
