Last weekend, a full four years after returning from the Beijing Games as a national hero, James DeGale laboured in a European super-middleweight defence against an obscure Frenchman.
Despite the luke warm opposition, ‘Chunky’ was hit far too easily and his face was banged up when he conducted his post-fight interview. The word is middleweight Billy Joe Saunders knocked him out in sparring recently.

It's funny how Frank can't wait to put the boot into Degale now he's with Hennessey. There's always rumours about sparring - Bellew KOing Froch, Tony Thompson Koing Haye etc,etc - whether it's true or not the only time and place it matters is in the ring on fight night. Billy Joe is good fighter, but it's easy for Warren to talk about it when boxers are with rival promoters and rival TV companies and has zero likelyhood of happening. Funny how Warrren never talked up a fight when they were both with him.

Funny that, now he's no longer a FW fighter. I wonder if Mr Warren would have disclosed this bit of information if "chunky" was still in his stable. allegedly can be real catty. Not that I'm upset if it's true, as I can't stand that prick Degale.

Why is everyone so apologetic all of a sudden.

It's no suprise that our best friend is slating someone who has left him, it's his usual style. I genuinely don't care when I find out someone gets knocked down or knocked clean out in sparring it must happen often when you think about it. Especially with people who are punchers. There were rumours that Carl Froch had been pancaked in sparring a little while back and yet he has one of the best chins about.

Degale has had reported heavy spars with bellew & clev & has a great chin so no way!!

I can understand fighters getting done with body shots when coming back after a lengthy lay off that aint no embarrassment it's when you are in flying shape & you get done you worry.

what happens in sparring stays in sparring used to be the rule but lots of good fighters have been dropped/ko'd in sparring at one time or another

If Degale was ko'd by Funtime Frankie then i would love it. Degale = Knob!
Sparring you have to remember that you could be sparring a guy that is close to his fight and more or less ready but you for instance have just had say six weeks off.
gotta take it with a pinch of salt.

Also it don't matter how good your chin is.if your mind is elsewhere & you get hit on the button the penny will soon drop!!

no i just keep missing punctuation out.

i was just trying to get the point across that frank never said saunders kayoed degale. just that he heard he had, which isn't the same thing.
