Hi there, this looks like the right place to post. I am after some more information on a great uncle of mine. I am interested to find out some more, I do have a picture of him training people at a Gym, Apparently he founded the Queensbury Boys Boxing club? can anyone elaborate?
Harry (left) with Jack Treadaway ((Olympic Boxer?) (Middle) not sure who the other is?
With trophies
Fight Bill - anyone know where I can find more of these?

Another site worth trying is
http://www.boxinghistory.org.uk. If same man he fought Jack 'Kid' Berg, an all time great fighter

Hello Bricey,
The images you have posted relate to two different boxers.
Harry Davis (Bethnal Green), who appears on the fight bill, was a very good professional of the 1930s and 1940s who had two terrific fights with Jack Kid Berg. He was still very much alive in 1987 and appeared on the Kid Berg episode of 'This Is Your Life'. You can see the programme here:

The H.L. (Harry?) Davis mentioned in the obituary clearly died many years before that (aged just 31) and seems to have boxed as an amateur only (albeit a very successful one).
Jack Treadaway was a top amateur boxer in the 1930s - I've seen his name lots of times in '30s editions of 'Boxing' (forerunner of 'Boxing News'), so presumably your great uncle was a contemporary of his. How sad that he died so young.

Thanks Alex, I was never sure that the fight bill was him, although he did box in Bethnal Green, references I find are usually Battersea, apparently very good friends with Jack Treadaway. Its a shame I cant find any army boxing records :(
Thanks for the help :)

Harry (Lionel) Davis actually Battersea not Bethnal Green
This was my grandfather, an excellent amateur boxer. I would appreciate any information to do with Harry as I didn't have the chance to know him as he died at 31. If Bricey79 is still in contact with Box Rec I would really appreciate it if he would contact me, I have worked substantially on the Davis family tree.
I would also appreciate it if anyone knows the whereabouts of any memorabilia to do with Harry's boxing career. His father was Frank.
Many thanks.
