There was an actor named Pernell Roberts (hope I'm spelling it right) who played Dr. John McIntyre in the series Trapper John.
In the series Homicide, one of the characters was Detective Meldrick Lewis, played by Clark Johnson.

With respect to Evander, that's the middle name of John Evander Cooey (sp?), a white Florida man who killed a little girl named Jessica, kept her dead body in his trailer and then buried her in (I think) his backyard. He got sentenced to death.

Ah, just looked up John Evander Couey, who was born in 1958 (before Evander Holyfield). He died of anal cancer while on death row. The victim was nine-year-old Jessica Lunsford.

Evander, Pernell & Meldrick are all old names, either Greek or Latin in origin.
Lennox is also a "proper" name, just not a particularly popular one.
Riddick is a name that I think appears to be made up.

Title actually, he's Thane of Lennox.
Lennox is also a surname (as in Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics), they often get used as forenames, mine for example and my paternal grandfather Sinclair.

In Menace to Society, Caine's mentor/uncle was named Pernell. Ended up doing 25 to life. A tragedy.

I don't find anything weird about any of those names. If anything, they sound like nerdy first names.

I just realized that the OP referred to Holy as a black Atlantan. He was born in Alabama.

Meldrick is an old English name. Others have answered the others I think.
