I dont mean to sound disrespecful towards Liam Walsh as I do think hes a very good boxer. However, IMO, I dont think he deserves a World Title shot at all against Ricky Burns at this stage of his career. I feel he has jumped the queue in front of so many other lightweights. Especially the fact he has only had 1 fight himself at lightweight. Typical allegedly, always wants to take the cheap & easy option.

Does anyone actually think Walsh deserves a World title shot at this stage of his career?

I think Warren sometimes gets heat on either that is either undeserved or should/could also be aimed at others who get away Scott free.

That said this is a truly dreadful matchup - Walsh has just done nothing to merit an opportunity like this, put him in against Murray/Mitchell if you want to step him up at 135lb

Once again the reason these things happen? Weak sanctioning bodies, and they are all the same, WBO, IBF, WBA or WBC -wouldn't trust them to run a tea boat!!!!!

Let's face it, as soon as Wlash appeared in the Top 15 it was nailed on he would be fighting Burns. Far too easy (and cheap) a fight not to be made.

This is a voluntary defence, so anyone in the Top 15 is elligible. Arguable whether Wlash deserves a Top 15 ranking though.

This is a crazy match-up. Walsh has only fought 5 boxers with winning records, none of them anywhere near world class.

I like Ricky but can't agree with this fight can see why people r sayin Walsh will sell the place but its not the point he doesn't deserve a title shot how does the wbo get away with it he s fought once at light weight

Real shame. I was up for going to this show at the Excel had it been a good match up. Not now.

By the time the fight comes around he could have moved into the top 10 with Bogere, Broner and Quintero all fighting in title fights over the coming weeks (though I certainly wouldn't back all 3 to win).

Really?! I don't think Walsh is in Mitchell's league and wouldn't last more than 8 rounds with him. No disrespect but Walsh is not at a level to compete for world titles and I doubt he ever will be. Got lots of heart yes but lacking the skill I'm afraid.

Dont worry about Burns. He is getting what should be an easy payday just before Christmas only 12 weeks after a big win against Mitchell.

Walsh didn't look very good against Urbano in his last fight. Walsh has also been struggling at domestic level at super featherweight.

This is another very poor world title defence for Burns. It is a bit better than his defence against Laryea though.

The top British fighters are getting some lovely Christmas presents this year...

I said that the Mitchell fight was a mismatch and that Burns would knock him out all Mitchell fans jumped on that one saying no chance. To be fair to Walsh he is about the same level(although unproven) as Mitchell.. This fight is going to be brutal the way Burns is improving at this weight I think we could see a bad Knockout.

As much as i like Liam Walsh,its a total mismatch...

I like Ricky and billy ... I don't blame them at all but this is a terrible fight for burns. Not to mention potentially dangerous.

complete waste of time! warren needs to be getting burns decent fights now, he's already proved he's the best in the UK by a country mile. Why isnt he looking for a unification fight?

Joke fight, and you wonder why he's not treated like a real world champion.

The fighter is as bad as the promoter with this one, you are only as good as your opponents and the Columbian-Norwegian, The Ghanian who beat Appleby with a jab and Nicky Cook are not elite (or even world level fighters).

It was Quality Control like this at Sky that got rid of allegedly. Was John Murray too risky?!
