I don't think that's a fair comment.
What if no other TV outlet was interested ?
What if Primetime also offered to screen his stable of fighters ?
I genuinely do not for one second believe the motivator for this comeback is cash.

Biggest shame of the lot is that it won't be shown in HD which in this day and age is laughable really

Can't blame Hatton, he has to look after himself and his promotional company and this will be Primetime's biggest PPV to date. I'll fork out £15 for it.

What amazes me is that one of the terrestrial channels haven't gone for it? Surely their viewing figures would eclipse that of x-factor and they could make a shed load on sponsorship and ad revenue?

ITV have done with boxing.
Channel 5 and Primetime are one of the same in truth.
Sky booted Hatton out and if they'd have given him his measly 8 dates instead of giving everything to Hearn they'd have had this one. Having said that Sky proclaimed they had done with boxing ppv anyway.

This will sell more than all of the previuos Froch and Khan fights on Primetime put together. He was not overestimating his audience when he sold out The M.E.N with no opponent announced, was he?

Is it really that bad that the most popular UK fighter can only get a contract with Primetime? I am not in the know but would of thought Sky and ITV or C5 would of be interested I guess I was wrong or Primetime were the highest bidder

Hatton will earn much more money through PPV on Primetime. He'll be on at least 50-50, probably more.

Mayweather v Ortiz got a reported 50,000 buys on Primetime. If that was the case, Hatton could get 100,000 easy I reckon, considering the press coverage it should generate beforehand. That's three quarter million sheets. Considerably more than he would have got for a ten rounder and undercard on Sky, seeing as their PPV days haven't been resurrected just yet (I'd expect Khan v Brook will jump start that again).

I'ts a pretty good card, so good luck to him. Part of me is convinced that part of him is doing it for his stable, which is a pretty noble thing to do in my book.

I feel it an underwhelming development. P'time have shoddy production values.

If we'd known this was the future in 1989 we'd all have puked. Especially those under 2 years old at the time.

WOULD THEY? If what people are saying is that Hatton will be on a better split on Primetime of PPV maybe other stations had money on the table but they werent as good. Good luck to Primetime but this sucks and other body blow for boxing as it moves further away from Joe Public. I cant believe other stations werent bidding for this and Primetime was the only opition, IMO Primetime got the fight because it offered Ricky the best way to make more money and seeing he isnt coming back for the money if they werent the only broadcaster with an offer on the the table this stinks.

Actually, I was talking about Martinez v Chavez, which wouldn't have cost Sky or Allegedjazeerah a fortune. Primetime wasn't the only option but I don't think there were as many fighting for this as you might think. It might have been the only realistic, viable option, Mark. Sad perhaps, but I do believe that was the case.

I believe Primetime pay NOTHING for the fight.

It's a revenue split with the promoter after so many PPV are sold that cover their production/studio costs.

Ian, do you know what Kelvin MacKenzie's involvement at Primetime is? Is it limited to Sports Tonight Live (although that could well be enough to put me off)?

I stand by the notion that this deal's no1 priority wasn't cash.
Primetime links with Channel 5.
The whole concept of Mick's deal with them was to produce future ppv fighters.
Tyson ? Young Barry ?
Maybe just maybe this deal was about Hatton Promotions getting dates on Channel 5 and thereby TV exposure for his stable.
