I am going to get shot down in flames on this but I've just watched a recording of the edition of Ringside with Khan and Brook on it and Harrison between them, and you know what, as I'm reminded everytime I see him speak I think Harrison would make a superb pundit.

I know we've all got our own preferences for pundits but while guys like McCrory, Nelson, Moore, Smith, etc are all pretty good, none of them seem naturals and all at times seem a wee bit awkward. The only fighter I've seen bed into the roll perfectly is wee Barry.

Harrison is an excellent talker, and if we can forget all that has gone before, a very likeable character. He's well spoken, knowledgeabe and given that in a few years we are likely to see our second ever Olympic heavyweight gold medalist turn pro how fitting would it be that the original version would be in place to cover it in part.

He'd be brilliant in my opinion, just need the silly f****r to retire first :(

That SatNav I bought from Audley Harrison is fcuking useless. All is does is say 'take a right' and then it stops working??

Audley would make an excellent pundit, unfortunately there's so much stigma surrounding him I don't think the people in charge would allow it. He'd be much better than Paul Smith and Glenn McCrory in my opinion.

I thought this during the Olympics when khan was stuttering and coming out with obvious buzzwords. Remember thinking that this job was made for audley, khans painful in front of the camera. Audley would have got loads out of the boxers as well.

Khan and McCrory both only speak only in boxing cliches and malapropisms.

Ironically, you can almost guarantee Khan has a pundit seat reserved for him in retirement. Get ready for that.

It would be interesting to see how long Audley would be able to go without referring to himself in the third person.

I wouldn't disagree with this. I did think he was pretty good sat between Brook and Khan on Ringside.
I actually like him as a person, even though he does talk shite about his abilities!

In that last sentence you could be referring to Harrison, Khan, Brook or indeed almost any boxer in the history of the sport.

I Totally agree he is very comfortable in front of the camera it’s such a shame he couldn't carry such confidence when entering the ring.

He'd make a decent pundit on the amateur scene, but I wouldn't like to see him as a pundit on the pro scene. He talks a bit too much in cliche's and I'm not sure he would fit in well with the viewing public cause of how his pro career has span out.

I think pundits have got to be likeable characters and popular fighters - thats part of the reason why Jamie Moore has fitted in so well at Sky.

If Audley was charismatic and started talking sense (big if), I think he'd do just fine. Jamie Moore is more than just a former popular, exciting fighter - he is obviously still passionate about the sport and expresses himself well. I think people but too much emphasis on how successful boxers were (See McCrory thread) when judging their pundits

I'm not convinced Audley has really retired from fighting to be honest. I can see him making a 'big comeback' next year, beating a bum or two and then getting knocked out again in a fight that will be billed as 'last chance saloon'.

Good point regarding Gary Neville, although I think even people who think he is an arsehole still have a grudging respect for what he achieved. He didn't nearly win 90 caps for England for being a poor player. A lot of the ways Neville wound up the Liverpool players and fans was cause of his passion for playing for Man Utd and personally, whilst it aggreviated the hell out of many many Liverpool fans, I think many could also see why he was doing it and sort of (in a funny way) respected him for it. Had Jamie Carragher or Steven Gerrard behaved in a similar way then I think the feelings would have been mutual - but still respect for their abilities and their passion for THEIR team.

I think a large chunk of respect for Audley as a pro has gone. His pro career, despite his rather fortunate EBU title win (I'm not talking about the KO I'm talking about how him and Sprott were ranked to fight for such a prestigious vacant title was rather fortunate) has been seen as a joke and I cannot see many people caring about what he has said.

Not sure Audley has the same passion for the sport as Jamie Moore - this is a man who has said he hasn't been in love with the sport for 8 years - yet in that time won the EBU title and fought for a world title. He had plenty of reasons to love the sport.

He has already said he is going to carry on boxing so don't hail yourself as the second coming of Mystic Meg when he announces his next fight.

Audley is a great personality & is extremely articulate has bags of charisma & a world class spokesman.

There are plenty of areas he can fill with great success in the sport,but none of them involve wearing gloves

Audley can certainly talk but its mainly nonsense. He has the personality but he often seems deluded. I see him following the David Icke career path.
