Former South Sydney NRL half back Joe Williams Won the the Vacant WBF Austlalasian welter tittle with a devestating KO of Lucas Mason in Joe's Home town of Cowra NSW the pro undercard fights were canceled late after local boy Jason Stewards & Dubbo's Rob Toomey openents pulled out The undercard was made up of 7 great ameture fights .... Was just travell'n through visiting a mate He told their were fights on in town knowing what a fight fan I was. We went down to the Cowra civic center It Was a great night got to shake the hand of the great Johny Lewis who was in attendance .. Was also great to see Shannon "the bulli blaster" Taylor and his father Steve their as well .. The main fight was a awsome congradultions to both blokes I know Lucas Mason doesn't have greatest record on paper but He showed so much guts getting smashed by willams then giving just as good back .. Joe's hand speed was top class and was ahead on the score cards when He scored a devestating KO Lucas was in real bad way and was on the floor for what seemed like an age. bleeding from the nose & out for the count..He eventually got to his seat then addressed the crowd Who gave both fighters a great ovation I was a liitle concerned about Lucas after fight and hope All is ok with his health after that KO
Just a note to all old Western suburbs Magpies fans like myself Joe Williams was trained buy former magpie and his father Wilfred Williams who was fittest looking bloke in place at about 50 looks fitter now than when he played..

Good to hear Shannon Taylor is out and about again.

I was told shannon brought a young amauter boy he is training to fight on the undercard but his oppenent pulled out. yes was great tp see shannon up and about. and still involved in boxing

I thought exactly the same thing myself but "wow" It was a great fight Both boys put on it all on the line . Ive seen a lot of better fighters put on far les impresive showings I thought it turned out to be worthy tittle fight at the end of the day.. I think mason really lifted himself and gave his all .. and Williams Looked very very classy I do not know Why the world boxing foundation sanctioned it but im sure glad they did.
at the end of the day it was great promtion in a small country town boxing made a lot of new fans that night..

What a Bloody Farce charge sanction fees? I suppose they have to pay for the pretty belts half the boxers in this country hang in their dens undefended.
