Scott Harrison's camp (namely Frank Maloney) is trying to cash in on the publicity being generated by the forthcoming Michael Brodie-Injin Chi rematch for the vacant WBC featherweight title.
Maloney is claiming on the SkySports website that if Brodie beats Chi on April 10 in Manchester, he will be offered a unification fight with WBO champ Harrison.
As if any WBC champ is going to target a WBO belt holder! And Brodie would murder Harrison in my opinion. Harrison just isn't as good as we first believed. Too square on.

last time that happened was Barrera vs Morales 1 also Hamed vs Soto was for the WBO, WBC titles

u can't unify the wbc and wbo titles anyway the 2 bodies don't get on after that spat at the lopez/alvarez fight back in 1998.

if and its a big if brodie wins the wbc title surely he should look to meet the winner of pacman/marquez.

Good post. That sums up this latest Maloney story.

Brodie v Harrison would definitely be a good match up.

Although I'd settle for a war between Harrison & Chi.

Sadly I think Brodie will lose to Chi, then maybe challenge Harrison for the WBO Title later this year.

Just a thought.

The winner of Pacquiao/Marquez will more than likely be fighting Morales. I Think it's definately a fight Brodie would want, but a fight with Harrison is, IMO, more likely to happen (providing he can beat Chi).
Also hasn't Brodie been talking for a while now about fighting Barrera?

Morales was a WBO / WBC champion for about half an hour.

I wonder what will happen concerning regarding the DLH vs Hopkins prospective match up. I'm personally sure these grudges will be (even if only temporary) on ice as its the closest chance of history being made.

KO Joe90 beat me to it. I think Chi will beat Brodie and then Harrison will try to cash in against an opponent coming off yet another war, ie Brodie himself. Then Harrison will get done!

Its been said if Brodie beats Chi he is in for a big money fight with Barerra. Theres a fight I wouldnt say no to.

Its the Pacquiao vs Marquez winner, the newly crowned WBC champ was mandated to fight the winner of Barerra vs Pacquiao, I still think the same applies now.

There aint a current Featherweight who can live with Pacquaio. Brodie would get mauled and anyone else for that matter.

I think you're right about Brodie, but Marquez will give Pacquiao all sorts of problems.

yeah i agree with glittermonkey, Pacquaio isn;t the incredible force everyone thinks he is. And i think Marquez will show that. But i agree Brodie wouldn't last long against him.

I'd love to see Brodie-Harrison happen and Maloney seems very keen and i'm sure Hearn would be as well. But there will no doubt be difficulties with who promotes the fight, and i cant see it happening.

Very true, McCoy, my words have come back to haunt me on many an occasion, but Harrison getting rocked to his boots by an eight-day sub last time out, and the two life and deathers with Medina, have made me a doubter. I just don't think he would survive with the big boys like Injin Chi. He's too easy to hit, and marks up too easily.
He's due a good performance for sure. :(

I think Harrison would beat Brodie, its a great match and one of the best around domestically. Let's see how Brodie comes out of the fight with Chi first though it could ruin him.

I dunno tink Harrinson Brodie is 50/50 fight I think both of them are just under the top top level in truth, and unbfortunately my head says Chi will a bit of a mess of Brodie this time round, but I think h woudl also beat Harrison.
Marquez or Pacman beat all three on the same night if needs be.

Barrera - Brodie for the WBC belt simply isn't going to happen. Sulemain has a pathalogical loathing for Barrera (apparently he refuses to have his name mentioned in front of him), so would never sanction the fight - the only person ever suggesting it was Barry Hearn....

Good to see that tin-pot sanctioning dictators don't think they are bigger than the sport and the fighters..

Brodie marks up pretty bad himself thesedays, for me it's a 50/50 fight, although we shall see how much more Brodie has left after 10/04/04.

If Brodie wins the WBC title (and it's going to be another trip to hell for Michael) by beating Chi, then Scott Harrison should have to earn his shot at Brodie by beating a world class boxer who's not past it or coming up in weight.

A win over Chi would put Michael in an excellent position to get a match with the real kings of the featherweight division.

The two boxers records just don't compare, Brodie has done it the hard way....Harrison the Frank Maloney way!

Well, he twice stopped Salim Medjkoune, McCoy, who went on to win the WBA super-bantamweight title.
If Harrison was struggling as a WBC champion, you would have to admire the fact he's at least hanging on to his title. But he's struggling as a WBO champ! Come on, McCoy. You know that Joe Calzaghe has made 14 defences of his own WBO crown and is still regarded as beneath Sven Ottke. Until Scott goes for a proper 'world' title, I'm afraid he'll find himself on the same sticky wicket.
